LHT now offering Aluminum Exhausts !!!
We have built several aluminum exhausts for a few race cars and my own Type R with NO issues at all. We just upgraded one custom from 2.5" which ran a supercharger NOS for 2.5 years , the exhaust looked just as good as the day it was installed..
We have had requests for this and now offer it for street cars.
.
We will still use the Proven magnflow stainless muffler and hangers, the piping between the Downpipe/header to the muffler with be 100% aluminum.
Example: 3" 16 gauge stainless pipe weights in at 28lbs with flanges
3" 14 gauge aluminum with flanges weights in a 6 lbs.
Pricing:
Most 3" complete exhausts with Magnaflow muffler installed $695.
Call us for your appointment today.
More pics comming.....

This is a custom 4" exhaust for a 600+ hp Street Type R made from 14 gauge aluminum for weight savings.
The muffler is a Magnaflow stainless with an LHT Aluminum oval tip.
The entire exhaust (excluding muffler) weights only 6 lbs, the stainless 3" weights 28lbs.

harder to work with?
harder to bend?
harder to weld?
more expensive?
John isn't out to dick people over, so i can't imagine he's price gouging you, i think i'm getting this over the stainless, i'll be calling you guys in a week or 2 to set up everything with my car, but i think i may take this route, thats pretty sweet

I think it's a novel idea. Good call Mr. LHT! Is this strictly for your 'import business'
or would you entertain trying it on a high 9; low 10 second Fox Body

The actual pipe itself may be a hair cheaper than stainless... but... It takes twice as long to make and takes twice as much material to weld. This also includes aluminum hangers not the cheap muffler shop special clamps.

These days we custom fabricate on pretty much anything. We're not strickly Hondas at all.I've had it my 650whp Type R, I think it will hold up fine.
Aluminum does cost a little less if you use the lower grade, but it can become brittle with heat and crack . Plus we use a much more expensive rod and a hybrid gas mix to weld it.
Remember, we are not a back yard shop. I , Myslef was a cirtified welder before alot of our customers could say "Exhaust"
If it's too expensive, you may want to check out the local drunk muffler shop guy....lolwww.lhtperformance.net.

i was wondering what the exhaust note sounds like, versus the stainless, i imagine it would have a less deep tone, but with a quieter muffler and a good resonator, would it still sound high pitched?
or since it seems like you use a higher gauge than the stainless, does the thicker wall somewhat cancel that out?

I havn't really noticed the tone been any differant. If anything it is a little quiter.
