Thread: Quick 16 Questions Thread

They are now running a pot luck/all payback $20 entry bracket race on Fridays as a test to see how much interest is there for a weekly bracket race. They tried it before and not alot of people showed up so they stopped it. I only see a few people on their forum asking for this bracket race at this time so I'm guessing it won't work out again. They cater mostly to the import, street racers and motorcycle crowd althought more domestic cars are starting to show up. 2010 events and racing schedule will be posted soon to include a Sumitt Point series that includes domestic, imports and motorcycles. Nice facility but a little shorter than LMSP. Better have good brakes or a parachute or both if you run deep into the 5's. If you can't stop, there's a 30ft sand trap and a wall of tires after that to stop you.
I guess it's better than hitting a dirt wall.

I'm going to ask nicely that this thread stay on topic as the subject describes. If not, I will make sure it does myself. This is the only time I'm going to say it folks. If you want to talk about a seperate issue that doesn't involve OUR Quick 16 program then it doesn't belong in this thread.

complaining bracket racers?
Why would fellow racers drive an hour and a half or more not knowing if the purse for the night is gonna be $300 or $500. The track would get alot more Bracket racers if there was a garanteed purse as there is in the Q16. They are loosing money on the purse with the Q16 unless they have a full field? Hell before you know it "Somebody" will have them talked into paying for the top qualifier of the night? What makes the Q16 any better as far as payout than the bracket class? Half of the Q16 cars that are showing up used to run the bracket race. As for picking who you run? It really doesn't matter, ladder no ladder riding up on a four wheeler or golf cart to see who is in line and where? I guess if trying to avoid your friends or people you park next to is picking who you run then i am guilty but usually at the end i run them anyway? Why does it matter who you run? Request a ladder for the bracket race then the only thing that changes would be the tree? As far as the new track there were more cars there then i have seen at LMP in a long time. Why? The numbers! The ones that go behind the $$$$$ as in $500 to win. Same goes for Orlando $1000 to win and they have over 50 cars in the combo class every race. Talk Patrick into putting on a garanteed purse race for say $800 or $1000 and see how many cars show up.

if memory seves me correct LKLD paid $800.00 to WIN in the the super pro race guaranteed the beginning of last year car count was no better. and my memory works real good they paid it the first three races. i won two of them. would love to see it again. but why not give the q16 format a chance years ago it became a Q32 1000.00 TO WIN AND WE EVEN STARTED TO RUN TWO WEEKS ON A PRO TREE AND TWO WEEKS ON A BRACKET TREE WHICH WAS THE BEST OF BOTH WORLDS SUPPORT THE TRACK SHOW UP AND RACE WHO KNOWS MAYBE YOU CAN GO BACK IN TIME

HAPPY HOLIDAYS

MAYBE RUN TWO WEEKS q16 THE REST OF THE MONTH 500 BRACKET TREE THEN IF THE BRACKET RACERS DO NOT SHOW THIS FORUM COULD BE PUT TO REST AND WE COULD FIND SOMETHING ELSE TO COMPLAIN ABOUT. JUST A THOUGHT. EVERY OTHER WEEK RUN BRACKET PROGRAM 500 TREE NO MATTER HOW MANY CARS SHOW UP USE SAME PAYOUT SYSTEM AS Q16 RACE THEN THE ANSWERS WOULD BECOME FACTS

I completely agree with running Quick-16 twice a month. This Saturday is one of those Saturdays
Prefer Pro-Tree. Hope to see y'all there, Mike
edit: PS >> this is based solely on cost, takes us about $200 to show up and make 3 passes, IF we don't hurt a single part, others are in a similar position.Last edited by BackMotor; 12-16-2009 at 08:38 PM.

Q-16
Not critizizing, just making an observation. I've mentioned this before and meant to talk to Patrick about it but haven't. Don't know if it would matter anyway. The change from regular bracket racing to Q-16 would have gone a little smoother and probably without this discussion if it was transitioned slowly. Maybe one or two weekends a month of Q-16 and the other two of regular braket racing to see the amount of participation. As participation grew or not, then adjustments could be made. However, I don't work there and I certainly don't tell them how to run their program. Just seems to me that it would have been the sensible way of introducing a new program when one had been in place for a while. JMO.
However, I support their decision and actually like the rules.
