Weekly Q-16 @ LMSP
It looks like it will be a weekly event from what is posted on the calender. I thought it was going to be a once or twice a month thing. The only problem with that is that those who run in S/Pro and can't qualify are forced to run in foot brake/street. Most guys that have electronics are use to leaving off the trans brake and have a hard time adjusting back to footbrake. The car may also be setup to leave off the trans brake and won't react the same off the foot brake. I know that my reaction times are much slower off the foot brake. When I go deep to try and cut better lights, then I go red. I'd have to re-set my suspension for foot brake in order to cut better lights. I spent alot of money for my electronics and want to run in an electronic class. Next time I will definitely try and qualify for the Q-16 rather than just going into the foot brake class. I'm sure if they had lots of S/Pro cars that didn't qualify they would then run a S/Pro race also but I don't see that happening. I may be wrong.

Last minute change of plans, we are going next Saturday (Nov 28th) instead of the 21st, we share 2 crew-members w/ another team (a roundy-round team) and wound up double booked.

It's not just the tree it's the whole program Q-16 or was it Q-9-8-5? Those guys with all the talk about how great this kind of race would be don't race. They spend to much time working on there cars and talking about it. The guys that come everyweek will not show up not knowing if they will get to race. Nobody can are will spend the time and money to come out just to make a few time runs just to load up and go home, when they can go some where else and race. A bracket race should be all run and on a 5 tenths tree. If the fast cars what to be famous they should step up to the heads up class.

They Do Not Race When Its A Bracket Race 500 Tree Or Anything Else I Have A Fast Car . Do Not Care About Being Famous . Been A Bracket Racer Most Of My Life . Key Word Here Is /////////////racer//////////////// That Why There Called Drag Racers Not Test Racers Or Bench Racers .the Same Guys Win All The Time Because No Body Else Wants To Join The Party But They Sure Want To Cry About It . Anyone Who Comes And Races Can Win On Any Given Night As Far As Your Theory On Not Knowing If Your Not Gonna Qualify Are We Talking About The Same Place 7.00 Flat Or Quicker Usually Gets In That Use To Be The Break For Super Pro .

Our next race at Lakeland: 12/19/2009 Quick-16
Sorry we missed the last event, between missing a couple key crew-members, and the cold temps, wasn't worth it. Our car won't stick if below about 55* F, believe me I have tried
Wasn't pretty
the 19th is our first open weekend, chassis cert & PRI show are the other 2 in between. Our car has a lot of post-race maintenance, and the most we could run is twice a month, since we have a volunteer crew (unless you count BEER as pay
) don't know if the other cars are in the same boat cost/maintenance wise, but it might make more sense to have Quick-16 once or twice a month, that way it's not watered down, and seems 'special' w/ full fields

I hear ya backmotor, I don't have a fast car (6.5's) but I've been working on it for the last year so that I can be competitive in S/Pro or Q-16, doesn't matter to me .500/.400 tree. I ran into the trans problems after installing the trans brake and it took me a month a half of going to the track just testing to see if the problem was solved and work thru that problem. So test and tune serves a purpose for me anyway. I don't go just to run my car for fun and go home. If I'm running and not racing, it's because I'm testing something that is not working right. It makes no sense to get in a race that you know you don't stand a chance to win because your car is not working correctly. I finally got my car (67 mustang fastback) working to the point where I felt I could be competitive and win. I got in the footbrake class on the second Q-16 race cause I thought I was not quick enough to qualify because of all the cars that were there. Come to find out, some of the quick cars never got into the race.
Some broke
and in the end there were two cars in the Q-16 that were slower than me.
I stayed in street but had a hard time adjusting to footbrake again and went out in the first round with a red but ran my numbers.
The next week I decided to just get in the Q-16. The car ran great and I cut good lights off the box during time runs/qualifying. On the third pass I broke the rear end housing.
. I didn't expect that!
I thought a mosser housing without a brace would be plenty strong and expected maybe the third member might fail if hit too hard so I was leaving just at 3,000. The third member held up but the housing broke both axle tubes where they weld to the center section. Now I have a broken car again and out of racing for a while. I'll start taking it apart this weekend and asses the damage. Anyway, all this story just to show that some of the people that test and tune do it for a reason however, I go to the track almost every time that they are having an event and also see alot of cars that make a few runs during T&T and then go home without ever getting into the race. To those guys I say, get with the program. As for me, I'll get back on the saddle and do my best to put anyone that stages next to me on the trailer.
I'll be back!

Thanks WildMan, we used to only do TNT because when we first got our car together, we had problems, blew up a couple engines trying to go fast, solved the reliability issues (pushrods were too short, many dropped valves) only to find out it didn't handle good (or at all) sorted that out (4 new tires, and altered front end alignment) that got us into the 5's. Refined our tune-up down to mid fives, that's all this engine has
New engine on the way, will get us into the high 4's. We went to Open Outlaw at Sunshine, barely qualified, but collected 'first round loser money' paid for the day, but I was
and determined to press forward with the BIG motor
But with our current engine, we plan to run Q-16 @ Lakeland, and train our crew-guy Troy to drive, and get his license.
