Quick 16 at LMSP!
It was announced yesterday that LMSP will be running a quick 16 starting soon. I'm sure Patrick will post the event in the schedule so be looking out for it. It's been a while since they have run a quick 16 event. Hopefully the participation will be just as good as it use to be or better.
The turnout Saturday was good with new cars showing up. The traction was very good for most racers with some having to let off because of wheelstands while others spun the tires.
It's all in the tires and suspention!
Good setup and you will hook in the water box.
Anywho, come on down and enjoy an evening of loud fast cars and rubber smoke with us at LMSP. Best $10 you could spend for an evening with the fast and the furious.

I heard the Q-16 announcement while we were there, 3rd Saturday of each month. We are stoked, and plan to support it as often as possible

If I can solve my trans shifting problem I'll try and do the same thing although if there's good participation I probably won't qualify with 6.50's to 60's depending on the air quality.

I used to race the old Q16 when Kevin ran the track. Will this new Q16 be on the .400 pro tree like it was before with 3 qualifing passes as it was before. I hope it is. You can go run a .500 full tree anywhere, the .400 pro tree makes it a little different than what you can run at any other track

I agree on the pro tree, I've been running Open Outlaw at Sunshine Dragway, and they run the .400 tree, didn't like it at first, but with some seat time, my lights got better, and now I quite enjoy the pro-tree. As far as qualifying goes, should have a minimum of two runs (one in each lane)

I talked to Craig about the Q16 yesterday. He told me that it would be a .400 pro light bracket race. He's the starter there but the person that you need to hear it from is Patrick, he's the track manager now. As for the qualifying runs, I think that your fastest time run during time trials will be used to see if you made the field. There's always plenty of time between 6PM and 8:45 to make at least 3 passes. Hope this helps.

I'm not sure but I thought I heard that it was for 2010. Call Patrick at the track he can tell you for sure. His number is in the page for the schedule. I'll ask craig tonight, he probably knows. I'll post it when I find out unless Patricl responds first. I'm having trans issues so I'll be out of action for a while.

Q16
Well, I guess I have 4 wks to repair my tranny (C-6). Just a quick review of my problem. The tranny was working great with a manual valve body. Not sure of brand but I think it's a TCI. I installed a TCI trans brake and it rolled into third, everything else good. I removed the trans brake and returned the tranny back to how it was with the manual valve body. Now when I shift from first to second there's nothing, when I shift from second to third I get second.
It also now has braking when I let off the gas in all gears. TCI says it shouln't have braking after I slow down below the converter stall. This thing will brake at 5 mph in first gear. It's not a problem with the shifter, cable, shift rod, or shift valve. I also checked the intermediate servo and band for proper adjustment and operation. Today I'll do an air pressure check on the 1 & 2 clutch packs. I know some about trannys, maybe enough to get myself in deeper trouble. If the air pressure test checks out and even if it doesn't I'll have to pull the tranny out and send it to someone that knows more about them than I do. I'm to the limit of what I can do.

Hope to be there if
I can solve my tranny problems. I just got back from connecticut yesterday so I hadn't done anything else to it. Today I did an air check on the servo and clutch packs. Everything seems to be ok. I took my trans brake valve body apart to check and see if a known old problem with the TCI C-6 trans brake valve body had been corrected on mine since it's brand new. It looked like it hasn't! The channel for the two check balls is too wide and too long and the check balls have a hard time alighning with the holes in the spacer plate and not finfing their seats. The fix is to fill the chanels with epoxy and route a new channel that the check balls fit and can only roll as far as needed to align with the holes in the spacer plate. The holes on the spacer plate are also too small and have to be drilled out to 7/32 ans 5/32. I'll do that tomorrow and try it again. Maybe it'll work and I can make the first Q16 race.

Worked on my tranny today
Did a trans brake Valve body modification that I was told was the problem and it seems to be shifting into all gears while up on jack stands. I won't know how it's going to shift going down the track until Thurs at T&T. Hopefully the problem is completely solved and I can continue to race the car on weekends and try to finish the body work and paint for the start of next year's racing season.
