I did buy two evos, just one ate the other so now the one makes twice the power.

Okay, Found out my trans was not in the best of shape and could have been the reason for my lock out issues as well. So now the trans just went through a complete rebuild and the 411 FD was removed which felt like it made the car accelerate extremely slow for the power it made and now I know why. I found out that the Evo 9 trans I bought for my car was really an Evo 8 trans...

The FD is not intended to be used with an 8 trans, had I known this I wouldn't have bought the FD in the first place

Oh well... The T-case is getting examined and will receive the infamous bolt upgrade and even though the clutch that came out my car looked new and so good that I no longer think it was the complete route of my issues, knowing me I still ordered a brand new Exedy triple disc clutch for the car anyway.

The car is a full weight pig, so is the driver so at almost 3600lbs I don't expect it to be to fast but at least 10 times better than it was.

Miguel, I know the civic had the 3586 on it and now your running the 82. could you share the reason why you went that way considering all the extra displacement. Plus I'd figure you could of just saved your money and kept the 86. Im guessing you were just going for a torque monster with a crazy power band and an excellent street mannered lambo killer lol? Is the lag between the 2 that substantial? oh and what exhaust housing are you running now?
    Thanks
    regards, Paul

If you look at the graphs you will see the car was like instaboost with the 82 which was fun as hell. I went backward because I had no intention of racing it or trying to accomplish anything with it,this was suppose to be a quick fun DD family car. Now I feel I have a point to prove....

I wouldn't have kept the 86 from the civic because I sold it to Jake Montgomery "Evil Eagle" when I went auto with the civic and I upgraded to the HTA3794 which I later sold to Aaron "JohnBradly" of English racing when I parted out the civic and sold the chassis.

The lag isn't that big of a difference between the two but the torque hit is a lot different, the 82 comes on at 3700rpm with an insane torque curve. Now the 86 came on around 4400 in the civic but ramped up like nuts. The 86 is the money maker, and the 82 is the fun supercharged road race type turbo.

Here is a graph from the civic making similar power but on the 86 with less boost. The 82 was more linear because it came on sooner but yanked due to the crazy torque hit, the 86 took a little longer but was like a kick in the ass when it hit making a more vertical power band as it came on. I had to do a 4th gear pull with the 82 to get that kind of vertical anger out of it.

I always run a .82 t3 or tial housing on all my turbos!

These Graphs are all from the same dyno

    HTA 86 @ 33psi

    HTA 82 @ 38psi

    HTA 82 4th gear pull

In a nut shell, I would rock the 3582 for a fun street car with insta yank from people in traffic, but I would pick the 86 for racing as it makes more peak power in the power range you will be shifting in.

Thanks man a lot of good info, how'd you like the 3794 when you had it? It's definitely an option I have in mind for my auto 1g when I get to it.

Love my hta 3582! And boost doesnt fall off like you would think with a .63 hotside.

It's a very laggy turbo, I wouldn't put it on anything but a 4k stalled auto car destined for 800+ hp and low 9 to high 8sec times. The civic was stalled and running 12.5:1 compression pistons and a secondary alcohol injection fuel system, so on the civic I could light up the tires from a stand still just by mashing the gas and go ballistic from there, but that was due to the set up. For a normal standard built car that turbo has no mid range and doesn't beat out the HTA86 till you get above 35psi. The HTA 3586 is all the turbo you will ever need, lighten your car from there. Anything bigger is for a drag/track car.
