Dean's MkIII Toyota Supra 7m-gte refresh!
Well The customer brought us this mk3, For some minor drivability issues that he was experiencing, So after looking over the engine we realized some vacuum line were incorrectly routed, he also had a boost leak & missing vital engine sensors.
We also decide, to change plugs & while in there to do a compression test , good thing we did, The engine had two cylinders that were basically dead. So we began debating what the best course of action would be, rebuilding or swapping and we decided to swap.
Upadte:
So now after running the numbers we've decided to abandon the 2j swap & opt for the engine refresh....
So lets begin..

Thanks Bro.
So we got the engine Further disassembled: The head had some scouring on several cam journals:

Onto the block: the cyclinder walls were in suprisingly good shape but will also need machining.
The crank also had scouring consistent with the cam journals:

After removing the pistons , It was apparent why cylinder 1 & 6 were down on compression:
Cylinder #1 piston broken ring land:

Cylinder #6 piston broken ring land:

So picking up where we left off, upon further disassembly the crank was also badly scoured:
So we sent the crank out for machining, located a good used head then had it machined / lapped the valves , good used set of stock cams, New better spooling turbo, New pistons, hks headgasket, complete engine gasket set, new bearings, Ring, Seals, Clutch etc. etc. etc.
New NPR piston: actully nice quality

Bearings mains / rods / tw:

Hks headgasket /cams:

Old vs new turbo:

Time to assemble:
prepped the bottom end

Head stripped & cleaned:
So then we lapped the valves cleaned again the installed valve seals , valves, spring, retainers & keepers of course..

Back together & ready to be mated with the block:

Ahh The perfect couple:

The much improved feed & drain lines, The feed line was purchased by the customer on the fly with out the luxury of measuring. will be rectified, the drain line was shortened about an inch after this image to give a more freer flowing path.

Once again I'd like to thank Dean & his Mom Melissa for being great customers and willing to assist in getting the project done.
If your in need of getting your windows tinted give them a call, And get the job done right:
