Skyline (R32 GTR) Engine bay re-paint
Well.....Hybrid Motorsports' Nissan Skyline has been sitting around the shop for quite a while, and we've finally gotten around to getting some work done on it. While we also will be looking at addressing the exterior, we've decided to give the engine bay some much needed love.
Because the only proper way to re-do an engine bay, everything has been removed - which included engine, tranny, wires, sensors, etc., blah, blah, blah.... As with most of our other projects, one thing leads to another and before you know it we have a full-blown project on out hands. Gotta love it!!!
Of course the process is very tedious and time-consuming, but it needs to be, to be done right. No shortcuts were taken and after most of the things in the engine bay were removed, it looked like this:

Again, no shortcut was taken in prepping the car for paint. There was endless hours and hours of grinding, sanding, etc. to get it in the best possible condition for a flawless paint job. After the "dirty work" was done, it was time for taping it off for paint (obviously the entire car needed to be taped-off/masked to avoid contaminating the rest of the car with overspray).

At this point, the engine bay is just about to be ready for primer! So on we went to the priming stage. Below, are a few shots of the primed engine bay:

Looks flawless!!!!

Paint:

Abs w/hardlines, Engine harness,

Abs/ hardlines, engine harness, brake master, clutch master etc. installed

Ecu's installed: Mines / Hks fcon v pro:

Installing chassis harness:

A few more components then we can wash/degrease down the e-bay, in preparation of the engine.
We'll move to the engine, While we wait a some new hardlines for the car.
Just to give this engine a bit of punch while we fully build our spare block.
We'll begin by removing & replacing the stock twin turbo units & stock clutch.

Ahhhhhh what a mess well lets begin:

Thers's 40+ pounds of nissan goodness........ yeah right

Well Got our manifold heat coated to help reduce under the hood temps & it look decent to,
a few shots.
Before:

After:

Now we'll Fit it to the Engine: after some fresh gaskets and all that good stuff: got a close up shot if you guys need the part number, sometimes hard to find

As you know we got rid of the old stock clutch: This Ogura Racing Clutch twin disk 'ORC' will do for now.

Well after some work building misc. steel braided lines, we arrive to mounting the turbo, wastegate & installing the lines we've built.
A few lines:

The Turbo & Wastegate installed: Garrett/Tial gt3582r // Tial 44mm WG

Ok well, Our engine is ready to be installed.

The new hardlines have been installed and The E-bay has been degreased & pressured washed.

Now we are set:

And we're in:

In the next segment, move to start up, Catcha later, and thanks for checking usLast edited by Hybrid Motorsports; 12-13-2009 at 01:16 PM.
