Default Help, Car Wont Start. expertise advise"

Gentlemen,

I need your expertise advise on my current vehicle status. To give you a basic understanding of what's happening. When I turn the key ignition on, the radio, A/C lights will come on. It 'seems' there is not enough power to kick the starter on or something else is happening.

It's obvious that the 1st thing I'd want to check is the battery, which has been replaced. At the same time i replaced the starter as well. Well, when I replaced both the car started and worked for a few weeks. The same thing started happening, car wouldn't turn over. I took the starter off and took it back to Advance Auto Parts where they tested it, and replaced it. Even though AAP replaced the starter they claimed the one i brought in checked fine.

So, once I installed the new starter, the car turned on. It then worked for a few weeks and just a couple of days ago i go back outside. Turn the ignition and car wont start again.

The car has not thrown any error codes, nor shown any lags of anything when it was running. One thing i must admit is, even though starters were replaced. The car never turned on as strong as it did before. It always showed a bit of a lag, before starting.

The scion has 150k miles. What do you Gurus suggest i should try.

1.Replacing Alternator? (Battery hasn't shown any drainage what so ever)
2.Replacing Battery terminals? (It seemed as old battery acid 'might' have stiffen the terminals)

Try cleaning the battery posts with a wire brush or sandpaper until they are shiny.
Do the same with the cable type connectors. Replace any corroded bolts with new ones.

Put some anti corrosion grease on both the posts and cable type connectors and also the bolts.

At this point everything associated withe the battery terminals should be both shiny and greased
with anti-corrosion grease.....not oil, not regular grease, but anti-corrosion grease.

Where the hot positive battery cable connects to the starter, brush the cable end and where it connects
until it is also shiny and grease it.

Where the ground cable from the battery connects to the frame, brush and grease also.

Find the factory ground cable...usually on the driver side, usually to the engine block...brush it and grease it
and either clean the bolts/screws, or buy new ones....metric bolts are at Lowes, Depo and a-parts stores.
If the cable insulation is cracked or cable is grungy, toss it and make a new one with terminals instead of twisting the wire around a bolt.

Run a new ground wire with a real terminal from the engine block to the ground bolt that holds the ground
cable clamp on the battery post.

After doing all that let us know what you found.

^ Senor Honda....

Three starters later and at the end the problem was with the terminal|cables as you stated. I went to Advance Auto Parts, bought some new terminal connectors, Anti corrosion spray for terminal and battery posts. Cleaned, spliced wires and replaced all spares. The car now starts better then ever. I would've spent money on new alternator with out even needing it.

Thanks again buddy..
