Default difference between vtec and non vtec dizzy?

is there a difference besides the bolt patters for example will a non vtec dizzy work for a vtec motor? is it just the legs that will be off?

a non vtec dizy will work on a vtec head, the ears on the dizzy have to be modified so the dizzy shaft sits strait.

i was a running an obdo ls dizzy on a obd1 d16z6 in my crx
my buddy's crx is runninga d16z6 with a obdo crx si dizzy for the last 3 years, also ran it on a ls/v for a year with out a single problem

Try this...Now alot of people doing mini me swaps or attempting to get a dizzy that is off a 1.5/1.6 non vtec injected thinking its got the same plugs so it should work on the vtec 1.6 d16z6/d15b/y8... at first I knew the mounting was different but a drill or a angle grinder can fix that. Just modifying the top notch would do the trick mounting a non vtec dizzy to a z6 head. But I was wrong. Sure it ran and sounded like it was working great, but my check engine light didn’t think so. It detected a cyp error. So I went on a mission to find a cheap z6 dizzy., once found I decided to take them both apart cause no one ever has any documentation about the dizzys compared.

Now a non vtec dizzy can be converted over to a vtec dizzy, just see the pictures below.

Now as u can see in the first picture, the top notch is in a different place, that really means shit cause most dizzys hold by 1 or two bolts on most engines, but you can get out the grinder and modify it to fit.

now comes the serious part, as you can see the cyp which looks like a snail shell is the same but in a different location, when the dizzy is in the opposite direction to the vtec one, the snail hits the sensor,

For the bright people, the snail is 180 degrees out. To convert it to vtec specs, you will need to remove the pin, and regrind the snail, fitting it to 180 degrees (opposite position) once done the cyp will accept the signal, and it will be a vtec dizzy.

it will throw a cyp/ckp code if you dont do it right, there is a diffrence in 2 wires that have to be moved, my buddy's, runs great and its been that way for 3 years. he has a re flashed and tuned pm6 running the stock pm6 dizzy on a d16z6.

for all those that say it is not possible please send HONDAHOUSE a shared_pm and he will tell you, he owns the car.
