nitrous solenoid wiring question
nitrous solenoid wiring question
I am just finishing up the wiring on my nitrous kit. I am having an issue getting my purge noid to work properly. I wired the noid up a little defferently than they showed on the website. But I think the wiring would work properly. The only thing is it didnt. The ground wire would get hot when I pushed in the botton. I think I may have fried the noid but I would like to know why before I buy another one. I am going to wire it how they want you to next time but I would like to know where I went wrong this time. here are some diagrams of what your are supposed to do and what I did. I dont know what I did wrong. any help is appreciated

When I wired up my purge solenoid I ran a seperate hot lead to it with a switch in line and just ground it to the chassis somewhere. That is the easiest way to do it but I believe you are supposed to use like a 20 or 15 amp fuse inline with the hot wire before the switch. Easiest way to test to see if the solenoid is bad is to hook one wire to ground and then tap the other to the positive terminal on your battery. If the solenoid doesn't click it is bad.
alright this is what I am going to do tonight. I drew up another little pic of it in mspaint. hopefully this will work. If it doesnt I have a faulty solenoid. If anybody sees an uissue with wiring it this way let me know.

from the two pictures, u wired it with a constant 12v power source. that is the problem. the system switch is bypassed and the purge switch is gettin constant power which it shouldnt.
i'm not 100% sure but thats what i can tell from the pictures.

Just do it like I said...wire the purge system seperate from the other system with a direct ground and direct power source...the switch for the purge with go inline with the 12volt constant. As for the other solenoid you should have some type of full throttle switch unless you are trying to be like fast and the furious and push the button on the steering wheel which is totally useless.
