Best chance for gettin on TR Staff? Secret inside.
I will let you guys in on a secret.
I cannot run TR on my own.
That's why we have mods and admins.
The single biggest want/need I have, and the thing that will have me add new admins, and or mods.... is people who understand the breadth and depth of TR's problems.. and can formulate and execute strategies to fix them.
TR is not a small, simple forum. It's large, it has an incredibly diverse population, it's run on lots of customized, optimized code and finding people who understand any of that is tough.
If you think you understand how incredibly difficult it is to balance the wants/needs of 60,000+ registered users, the 750,000 monthly unregistered visitors, local shops etc etc, and can see the problems we suffer, AND think you have solutions to those problems, let me know.
The single best chance anyone has of becoming an integral partof this team, or an admin is to blow my socks off by saying "I understand problem xyz, and here is a well thought out solution".
Impress me.Stuff.

hey just throwing it out there i work at a machine shop and see no tech on machine work. most people dont understand bearing clearances or know little tricks and tips to get power or to improve reliability. when people argue with me on engine work procedures it drives me insane since im the one staring at internals all day. now i know im not always right but if i dont know my grandfather will. im a fourth generation punk ass 22 year old that thinks he knows everything but when u have a engine bred family like mine its hard not to be like that. so if possible set one up or just make a way for people to ask me direct questions for there build. i can get back in a day or so. and my specialty is cylinder heads and the only make or model preferance i have is the green one with a president on it so i dont ford or chevy bash cause both do make some retarded designs and i do imports. i just hate seeing retarded engine answers. sorry for ranting let me know if possible, and yeah i know im not the only asshole wanting something so i got nothing but patients...thank you for your time and website.

on allmost all the time
i'm on everyday and everynight
and i will also keep the forum clean (neutralizing spam and spambots etc
i will also help tampa racing and help answer users' concerns about the forum and thread of just any question they have in mind.
i will also do some things to keep tampa racing safe and all of this from the permission of you guys like deleting, merging, moving, and splitting of posts and threads, locking, renaming, stickying of threads, banning, suspending, unsuspending, unbanning, warning the members, or adding, editing, removing the polls of threadsTR "Old Skool EF" Member #195

I have offered to start a section related to car club info and moderate it, in General Car Chat. I can keep it more current than the shop forums are.
It has been ignored since I first proposed it about a year ago, then started a thread about 9 months ago in the help TR section.
Why should "the powers that be" or anyone refuse someone's help then complain that they are overworked?
Not Interested? Don't read the posts:

You are asking them to open a section for you to mod, They are looking for people that can read code and work out glitches in the system. Not someone that can post where the next meet is going to be or what car club is the new thing this week.

The words I see printed in the first post appear to me as
"formulate and execute strategies to fix them."
I see nothing in your "code and glitches" quote related to
1.my postings at the cited link and
2.nothing in your quote related to OP's posting.
To help you understand the value of what I suggested,
as far as promoting the automotive sport,
You are free to read them both again.-Bob

Bob,
I never once stated that it was exact words from the OP. Second I believe that we need to focus on what is here now and not add more to the pot.
You have been beating this Car club thing around for a while now and they are not biting. Maybe that's a clue as to whether or not they are truly interested in it.
And if they are looking for someone to "Formulate and execute strategies", Where does that involve creating more sections?
Edit: I have nothing else to add to this as well, Not trying to turn this into a pissing contest.Last edited by Sleeperlx; 09-03-2010 at 05:44 PM.

Agreed, but disagreed. I understand why you would say "focus on what we have " but its wrong. TR is failing slowly but surely, and keeping "what we have" isn't going to change anything, new forums could bring new ideas, new people, and maybe revive this forum.
My $.02

And how would you know that TR is failing slowly? I was originally a Member in 2002 and this site is better than it was years ago.
I believe if we weed out the unnecessary sections at this point and begin a re-format of the site we could add more sections once the site is under control.
If you have a cup full of water, Are you going to add more water to it just for it to flow over the rim?
No you are going to remove some and then add more once you have brought it back down to a manageable size.
I'm not trying to say I'm right and bob's wrong, What I'm trying to say is get it to a point where you have the ability to re-structure the site and add new sections.
