The Will of the People Will Always Prevail
The Will of the People Will Always Prevail

If you've been paying attention to the news lately (although I can't say I blame you if you're a little sick of what the mainstream media is selling), you already know about the recent rash of protests at GOP town hall meetings across the country.
According to CNN, "More than seven years after angry anti-Obamacare town halls erupted across the country, raw emotions are boiling over again — this time, as the Republican Party under President Donald Trump gears up to dismantle Barack Obama's legacy."
According to The Atlantic, President Trump tweeted this response to the protests: "The so-called angry crowds in home districts of some Republicans are actually, in numbers cases, planned out by liberal activists."
Sean Spicer, White House Press Secretary, also "suggested the activism may not accurately reflect the sentiment of the lawmakers' constituents. 'There is a bit of professional protestor, manufactured base in there,' he said. 'It is a loud, small group of people, disrupting something in many cases for media attention.'"
It doesn't seem too far of a stretch to envision organized groups using scare tactics to convince representatives to go against what the majority of constituents actually want. As far as the 2[SUP]nd[/SUP] Amendment is concerned, we already know that groups like Everytown for Gun Safety and Moms Demand Action have consistently coordinated efforts (and have attended many-a-town-hall-meeting) in an attempt to restrict our God-given right to keep and bear arms — despite the fact that the majority of people in our nation actually support less restrictive gun laws. (Visit Moms Demand Action's website, and you can actually search for events in your area.)
Now, whether or not the Trump Administration's accusations of "organized, paid protestors" are true, one thing seems certain:
The media reports of such protests — along with their focus on immigration restrictions, the repeal of the Affordable Care Act and other such topics that have only served to rile us and divide us — are helping to distract us from many of the good things currently happening in our country.
Thus far, it appears that President Donald Trump is keeping pace with his promises. And that includes guns. In fact, pro-carry legislation has recently passed in Wisconsin, Ohio and South Carolina. But, of course, we haven't heard much about any of that in the mainstream media.
Although our individual voices seem muted by the loud and angry swarms of protesters, we must press on. We must continue to fight for what we want and for what is right. Scare tactics might work in the short term, but the will of the people will always prevail.
Attend local town hall meetings in your area. Contact your representatives and tell them where you stand. And then, of course, hold them accountable. Our freedoms depend on it.
