USCCA Reciprocity Map

Contrary to what the leftist liberals keep telling people,
almost all states reciprocate and allow you to carry concealed.

[h=1]National Concealed Carry Reciprocity: Yes or No?[/h] By Rick Sapp // 01/20/2017

On this day, everything seems possible. Possible to hope for a future of free enterprise, a vigorous unbiased media and a nation in which citizens exercise individual initiative and responsibility. Possible to hope for a world in which one’s talents and hard work — yes, with a little luck — result in a decent and satisfying life. In short, it is a day in which the delivery of America from those who wish to destroy it, to demean it, to belittle it, is still possible.
I don’t expect that we will all march in lockstep to the same drummer, believing and fighting for the very same things. Democracy is and always has been a messy, energy-expensive, even wasteful exercise in human community.

Part of what makes our very own democratic republic function is a mandate in its founding documents that we citizens have the right to defend ourselves, our families and our homes from the tyranny of the mob and from the tyranny of government.
We responsibly armed and trained citizens who believe in and participate in concealed carry are the bedrock of this great nation. But the nation is made of 50 states and thousands of smaller, semi-independent jurisdictions that have regulations often at cross purposes — and so, for our benefit and the benefit of those we love and protect, would it not seem absolutely fundamental that we have a uniform policy across the U.S. that allows us to carry in every state and jurisdiction? Wouldn’t a national concealed carry law such as that introduced by U.S. Representative Richard Hudson (R-NC) — requiring reciprocity in every city and state, every county, municipality and parish — make sense? Shouldn’t we promote the idea? The NRA supports it.
Actually, I’m not at all sure that we should back this otherwise deserving idea. Not sure that we should press forward with the case for a congressionally-enacted law to mandate concealed carry reciprocity.
The wind in our sails unfurls the American proud flag at the stern of the SS Arabella in the Virgin Islands, 2016. Let’s party and then let’s get back to work, together.

The arguments for such a law are obvious. We would not be required to study laws and requirements or pay for multiple permits or leave our protection at home when we travel. It’s ridiculous that the jurisdiction with the highest rates of violence — Chicago, of course — is the most restrictive of handguns. Chicago, the cursed city. (Total shot last year, 4,378; dead, 713. The pathetic and perpetual Democratic administration says the cause is guns — missing the point of the wretched inner-city culture because that would be politically challenging, even explosive. Instead, Chicago’s bosses blame Indiana. Either create martial law in the Windy City and deploy the National Guard or flood the city with free ammo and get all the killing and mayhem over with.)

My argument against such a law is this: Once signed into law, it can be overturned by a change in the electoral winds. Trump’s men and women succeed the obtuse Obama clones this happy year, but in four years — eight years if we are truly interested in saving our republic — anything might happen. Lacking a vision for the future other than trading “free stuff” (housing, health care, food, education, etc.) for votes, some Democrats are already touting Michelle Obama as a viable 2020 candidate.
As far as I am concerned, this says it all for a national law: “A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.” Those, of course, are the words of the Second Amendment. In light of the “shall not” phrasing, additional elaboration should be unnecessary.
Yes, we are a more complex nation and world; yes, firearms have evolved significantly in the years since those words were penned.

But the threats have evolved both internally and internationally. Anyone who believes proponents of Big Brother Government and subsidies for every whining mini-minority will simply slink away will see the light, change their minds when we speak to them of reason, when we point to statistics proving that America has been a tiny land of opportunity in a turbulent sea of repressive world governments (including the Euro zone). Anyone who believes the fight for justice and liberty is finished hasn’t seen the recent posting on Facebook.com of Chicago citizens torturing and beating a young white man or has had his or her head buried in the sand, hoping ISIS will not notice when sweeping through Obama’s pro-Muslim rhetoric.

So today is full of sunshine and promise in America. But amid the celebrations, remember the words of Saul of Tarsus: “I die daily.” He meant that the fight goes on, every day. As a former college boxer, I can truthfully attest that you can’t ever imagine the fight is won; not until the bell rings. So let’s party — and then get back to work.
