This is my DIY electric bike. Its powered by two 3cell 5.0Ah lipo batteries (series), running thru a 200A speed controller which feeds a 170kv/3250W brushless motor (TGY Aerodrive Series 63-74). Currently due to gearing limitations and voltage I am running at ~30amps during maximum speed, still this pushes me and the bike to 48km/h on the flat. The batteries are rated to a 25-30C discharge rate so everything runs nice and cool at this setting...I may try machining an knurled case to wrap around the motor can to decrease my gearing and increase my speed .

The whole project cost me about $200-300 and added an extra 5 or so pounds to an already light weight single speed bike...quite amazing what is possible with off the shelf technology!
