Drive barefoot in Hyper-mileage fashion
I averaged:

37 at 80 air on 87 Oct.
43 at 70 air on w/92 Oct
46 at 70 air off on 92 Oct
34 at 85 air off on 87 Oct.

I hope to make an empty run soon.

Nicely done.
Looks like you could easily break 50mpg by knocking another 5mph off... maybe not even that much.
I've been bad lately. I bought myself a "new" beater Miata a few months ago, but haven't managed to drive a full tank even close to hypermiling yet. Still, I've seen 27-29 mpg city... which I can't complain about.

lol.
I'd be ecstatic to get half of that in my truck.
interesting how much differently it performed with the higher octane.
Maybe the timing is too aggressive for the 87? just spit ballin'

Makes me want to use a tank of 93 octane for the first time since I was a dumb 16 year old. You should do runs 55-60-65 for giggles, you should be able to break the magical 50mpg barrier (not that Hondas haven't before...if I had a Civic I'd shoot for 55mpg).
If it ain't broke I still want to fix it

I need to do a half-tank hypermiling trip in my Miata and see what it will do. (isn't it dumb to go waste gas to demonstrate how much fuel you can conserve?)
I've added some lightness to it (removed some minor trunk panels and such), put a 7-pound flywheel and recently a set of 10.5 pound wheels. 14-pound tires of slightly taller diameter are coming soon, as well. It's all making the car FEEL fantastic, very light, nimble and "classic sportscar" like. But, I expect I should be able to break 40 mpg with it pretty easily. (still getting 28-32 running around town and generally driving the snot out of it a lot) EPA says 28 highway... 40% more is 39.2... I'm confident that I could do that if it was stock. So, I'll predict 40-44.

A couple gallons of gas for research purposes goes a long way IMO. If I had never tried to break 35mpg I wouldn't be capable of showing restraint and letting the 6000lb SUVs pass my itty bitty mid sized sedan on 2 lane country roads. Besides, you can always make an excuse for the trip like a favorite bar, junkyard, etc. Even at $4 a gallon (gas hogs excluded) a relaxing 2-3 hour drive is chump change compared to damn near any other way to spend your time.
Love the weight reduction, of course...as we all know I'm CRAZY for it. Right now I'm tied up as far as my car goes, can't afford anything but I'm still doing quite a bit of productive planing. I don't see anything I want to do adding to gas mileage however, unless I can find some nice light OEM seats at a junkyard. If it ain't broke I still want to fix it

I'm thinking about trying to drum up some interest in a "midnight economy run". Maybe a Friday night... meet up at a 24-hour convenience store, fill-up, drive somewhere a couple hours away, stop for a few, then come back to the same place and fill up again before heading someplace for breakfast. Could be fun.
Of course, last time I did something like that, only 2 cars showed up... and I was one of them.
