Jerry, you always do such an excellent, thorough, and complete job with these bio's--I've seen 'em all. For what it is worth, my wife and I were fortunate to meet Robert Mitchum in Montecito, California a couple years before he died. I recognized him driving his older Mercedes into one of the shopping centers there. We managed to quickly work our way over to Mitchum's car. When he got out, I said to him, "Hello, Mr. Mitchum." He quickly turned and looked at us. When he did, I asked, "How are you, sir?" He said "Worse" and he promptly turned away and continued on. Knowing his personality from the news and such, that was about what I expected. But, I found out many years later, that his one -word comment "Worse" was significant. I saw Mitchum doing an old TV interview (Carson??) explaining why he uses the term, "Worse!" If I recall, I saw it on YouTube. Thank you, sir, for all your hard work.
