Dodges are notorious for trannies. Get them bitches wet and they are TOAST.
My company was all Fords so i got to try out all of them. The older 7.3 are beast. The 6.0 and 6.4 are fucking junk. Our 2011 6.7 has a 110k miles no problems yet, TONS of power, and is really quiet. Thats the only 6.7 we have that I got to abuse.
My friends dad owns a directional bore company and uses Chevy exclusively. Duramax is much more expensive, but they have had only one problem (common injector problem that chevy paid for).
Not many companies run with Dodges.

I think the correct word you are looking for, OP, is "crewcab".
And I guess this answers the other question you asked about "why companies are getting rid of smaller trucks". Because people like you want bigger trucks.Last edited by Kabron; 02-06-2012 at 11:11 AM.

I was told to stay clear of the magnums and go with a Hemi.
I've never been a fan of the dodges, but a lot of people I know drive them and haven't had problems with them. I guess they upgraded the transmission cooler and the really haven't had many problems in them since the new body style (02- newer) came out. The only dodge My family ever had that I can recall was a 94 Dodge caravan my dad bought off the show room floor. Brand spankin new. Never gave us an ounce of trouble. That van was a beast.
Crew cab, quad cab, Who cares...... Same shit. The only real difference is one door is a little longer in the back than the other from what I can tell.
Negative ghost rider. I originally wanted a quad cab Sonoma/S10 or a quad cab Colorado with the 5.3l LT engine, but the 5.3s are very rare to find and so are the s10/sonoma quads. Very hard to find especially with a 4.3.l vortec. (the real vortec) When I do find it they have way over 160k on the engine. I think Autotrader had one or two within driving distance (200 miles) last time I checked, but it had way too many miles. I bleed GM, but GM's run a little more expensive with very high miles. If I could find a 02-08 with under 140k miles Silverado/Sianna with a clean title and not beat up then I would take it.And I guess this answers the other question you asked about "why companies are getting rid of smaller trucks". Because people like you want bigger trucks.Last edited by CoRDiTe; 02-06-2012 at 06:07 PM.

^ I heard some of the transmissions were giving trouble, but you can't go wrong with a 5.3l LT in that small little truck. :druels:

If you get a cummins 5.9L with a power module (on fuel saving mode) you can see 19-23mpg hwy. The truck will run 13.0-13.6 1/4 times. Ive owned a 2005 with 360K miles with tons of add ons to it, it ran like a champ
GM's burn diesel, are expensive, not as reliable as a cummins and lack power
Ford 6.0 & 6.4 are good engines have great power and fuel economy, linked to great transmissions. Only problem is there a money pit, head gaskets, egr, a bitch to work on, you name it. Stick with a 7.3L Its a lot more reliable, easy to work on.
Mercedes/dodge van are garbage they dont last and dont have the pulling power, and look like a school bus

You can, get a hemi 2500/3500 cheap, because not many people want them. They suck a lot of gas! They do not tow know way near Diesel.
It's not like a hemi in a 1500 (those have great mpg) the 2500/3500 chassis is very heavy so towing wise hemi will have a harder time. Look on ebay, diesel trucks sell like hot cakes.

I actually wasn't correcting you, I didn't even read the thread. I'm was saying that the type of truck I would recommend you getting is a standard F150(chevy/dodge1500) "CrewCab" style, that way you have plenty of room for the wife/kids, and something for towing. Just good all around practicality.
