Did I mess my car up?
Hi,
I have purchased a 2011 STI hatch...had the car for about a week or so...Tonight I was coming back from Disney..long day..kids in the car making alot of noise..wife being annoying..radio playing..im not use to a 6 speed...so i look down and notice..from the time I hit interstate from disney to about lakeland I had been in 4th gear...my car was running at 5000-5500rpm...I only noticed when I glanced at the rpm and was thinking...why is my car rev'd so high...i was going bettween 70-80mph at times...once close to lakeland i relized this and shifted into 6th gear and was at about 3500rpm...now...no check engine light...no oil light..no over heating occured...car seemed fine the rest of the way, but it really freaked me out..can anyone chime in? am i screwed? seriously first time owning a 6 speed and 4th and 6th gear im just not use to it..with everything going on in the car i couldnt hear the engine...i did however notice when pushing 80 the gain wasnt normal..will this effect anything?
Thanks all,

I don't see why your car would be messed up. You were in 4th gear. Not like you down shifted into 1st or 2nd.. Just take it easy. Check all fluids and gear fluids(if your tranny uses gear fluid) take a little bit out look at it , smell it, feel the texture of it and make sure it looks, feels normal. This is what I would do. Make sure you don't see any metal flakes or something.. This is something " I " would do if it was my car.

reminds me of the story my brother told me when an USAF GI went home from Paris to Ramstein AB in his 330i, blasting music on full volume while bouncing of the rev limiter the whole time.....he didnt notice it.
