I don't see why your car would be messed up. You were in 4th gear. Not like you down shifted into 1st or 2nd.. .

Add my name to the list.
I don't think cars get hurt as long as you stay out of the redline.
I have started the habit where each time I hit 50mph, I put it into a higher gear
for better gas mileage.

Sometimes a Tach can be used for a speed indicator.
Example: 3,000 rpm is about 80mph. One of your gears will usually read rpms
as the speed itself. Another gear will be 1 1/2 X rpms, etc, etc. With no distractions,
in my car, I guess I spend time watching gauges.

Some people wonder about all the stuff on my car...the cops sometimes
use infrared heat detectors to see the seat belt stripe across your chest.

So far no one I know has seriously taken it to court under probable cause
or illegal search, etc. I use seat belts to make me feel one with the car
in the turns.-Bob
