No more compact pick up trucks
So with the death of the small compact pick up do you think this could open the doors for UTE's to be made and sold in the states ? Maybe the Camino and the Ranchero will be reborn ? I know Pontiac had the Pontiac G8 ST back in 2010, but with the company going under it never hit the U.S Market. Maybe GM can reintroduce it as a GM or Chevy... What do you guys think??

Scion has something in the works, all it takes is for one manufacturer to find a profit in something, everyone else will follow suit. the Ford transit connect could easily be made into a decent ranger.
edit, i take that back, bitch is fwd.

Here is a Scion XB made to look like a ute.. Would be interesting to see what they will come up with.

Edit:
This is a concept from 2008 or 09. In all honesty I like it. It really catches my eye too for being a 4 dr.

My Hemi 4x4 quad cab gets better mileage than my 3.0L extended cab ranger did, and I don't even have the variable displacement. Kill the little trucks. they are useless unless you need to get between the trees..
this is what "SMART" is giving us next..

These "trucks" aren't practical. Not much of what I actually put in my bed would fit into these.
Some of these look sick though!

^ Most of these beds are probably the same size as a quad cab colorado, sport tac, frontier, etc If not bigger. It has a useful size bed. Does it have a market in the U.S though? The Subaru BAJA was a bust IMO. I think mostly because of how it looked though.

I had a 2002 ranger for a couple of years. I loved it but it was a lemon with only 70k miles on it. It was one of the most comfortable vehicles I've owned as well and I didn't want to get rid of it.. but I needed a bigger vehicle , and I was amazed at how crappy the gas mileage was on the ranger. even a 2500 diesel ram 2wd gets 20 mpg, my ranger (and my friends stock rangers even) evened out at 15 mpg.
I miss it honestly.. but I love my Ram at the same time..
