Street Heat last night?......
Was it me, or was last nights street heat National "Your Ride Breaks Down Day". I saw atleast 8-9 cars being towed and a few flat beds. My buddies friends Evo blew a trans.. A car broke, down almost slaps the wall... Then someones coolant lines broke loose on the start line. Ive been to dozens of street heats and this one last night was tops them off of break downs. Thats why I ran once last night, and just launched and only went to 3,500 RPM the entire way down due to my trans shittin out on me. Must of been some bad juuuwjuuuw out there last night... Thoughts?

Street Heat is a great provision that serves as an alternative to illegal street racing. But some of these kids need to realize that sometimes it's not about beating the piss out of your car. There are waaaaay too many cars that pull up to the line that surprises me that it even runs. Plus, there needs to be some "track knowledge" preached:
1. Do NOT run with your AC running. Don't pull up, dont sit and wait at the tree, nothing. This is due to the unnecessary water that drips down on to the track. water=slippery=crash
2. There is NO speeding though the parking area, concession area, "common" areas.... There are too many people and kids walking around and it is DARK, so this could lead to an injury to say the least.
3. Learn how to park - I dont care if you have a bone stock civic or a Lamborghini Aventador, use common sense before you block someone in.
4. Similar to number 2, use caution and be courteous to pedestrians. I could have punched like 3 idiots yesterday for driving like absolute imbeciles, have the balls to "look hard" at me, and as I approached their door, they take off. - This goes both ways, if you and 15 of your "crew" are standing right in the middle of the road, get the hell out of the way when a car is coming. Common sense people.
5. Staging area - PAY ATTENTION to the staging area attendant. Take it easy. everyone is so eager to do their ONE wheel burn out, but you must ONLY do so when told to.
6. Stop STOP STOP revvvvvvvvving endlessly. That might have been cool when FF1 came out, but this is over a decade later. ITS NOT COOL, and if you are doing it to be annoying, eventually you will get whats coming to you when you annoy the wrong person or until you blow up your 1.5.
7. Girls, if you go dressed like a hoe, you WILL be looked at. Plain and simple. So no attitude "whatcha lookin at" crap. And for you dudes that allow your girl to dress like a hoe, she still will be looked at even as she is holding your hand. If it's 40 degrees outside and she is wearing coochie cutters and a half shirt, then dont be suprised if she's in some other dude's car getting warmed up.
8. Make sure your car is in (at least) standard running condition. No hoses loose, not leaking huge amounts of oil, ect..... These are the ones that break down right after the tree and then crawl ALL the way down the track, causing a lengthy shut down of the track for clean up. So, if your car goes BOOM, STOP!..... don't drag all of your waste down the track.
9. For you 1st timers, you HAVE to register and get an arm band before you can line up. There must have been at least 25 morons eager to run but then had to get asked to leave the line to go register blah blah blah.
I know there are plenty more but Im sure the rest of you will chime in

+1 on this, i was so mad that i only got to do 2 runs because of the cobra blowing up, and i almost left after i saw that honda break down at the end of the track after the cobra. wasted my 10 dollars and my time. Also, this is the reason why i cannot bring my daughter out to this event, too many idiots driving around the parking like its the actual track. i wish there was a solution for this.
edit: even thought i was mad about the cobra blowing up, i was glad that he came out ok from that, and i got mad respect for him after watching him save himself from hitting the wall.

REY  at Rule 7. Don't you know they think F&F is for realz and that you have to get all dressed up to go to the track where you walk through dirt all night.
Like Duh!
Oh and as an add to that Rule. Girls quit getting all pissed off when a racer who is female walks up to your Man's ride and asks him legit questions about his setup. Don't worry you can have the passenger seat. We like the drivers seat.
Thanks for the laugh.if you can only race me in a straight line then whats the point

I see people out there spending money on the car to improve it If you spend half that effort just working on your driving skills, making you and the car work together as a team, then youll go faster period. To make the car go a second faster on the track takes a lot more energy and money than making yourself drive it one second faster. the late Tom Thrash SCCA Solo E Production
