you would be better off saving that 100 bucks to just pay your ticket when you get one.
the only thing you're going to get with that budget is an annoying noise maker that is going to give you a false sense of security and end up getting you nailed sooner.

Save your money... Unless you do a majority of highway driving, radar detectors just don't help like they used to.

I picked up a Decent one from a local pawnshop for 50.00 for a nice cobra one with a 1 inch lcd..
Its funny I get a divorce from a nagging and annoying women. So what do I do? I buy a nagging and bitching device that I have to listen to.
It has saved me a few times from laser. but that is it.

the thing with laser is that they can aim it, then hit the button and instantly get the speed of the car it was being aimed at, however, there is still a little bit of a "fan" effect when using a laser. Say you have three cars, side by side. the officer points it at the middle car, the detectors in the two cars to the sides will go off. Same thing if you are a few car lengths behind the car that got hit. Now if you are the target, then tough luck, there's no getting out of it.
radar detectors just give you a little bit of a heads up. Usually not enough to do much about it, and won't let you go blasting down the road. Personally, I view detectors as a way to gain just a little bit of an edge on an over zealous cop looking to nail people going 80 mph on the interstate. Much beyond that, and they aren't really worth anything.

I never saw a good deal for $100. +1 for Empire.
I also like Empires post 7. There are plenty of "imperfections" that are not widely known.
The best I have seen is Valentine one...about $400 if I remember right.
but....what does a ticket cost in the range where you might get caught?
Everything is a compromise. Make your best decision. For $100, you might
as well run naked.

Take your hundred save up some more money and pick up a valentine1 by far the best one on the market. It won't save you if you get lasers directly but if the laser bounces off another car it'll pick it up in a heart beat. Also If the cops are sitting on the side of the road with their KA radars on it'll pick it up 2 miles away easily.
