6 point harness? I had to Google it to see where the hell the 6th point came in at.
Man they changed the the short terms for each type of racing and I always get it wrong. It was Solo and Solo 2 with Solo 2 being autocross. i.e. www.cfrsolo2.com. Solo is now Club Racing and Solo is now Autocross. Since I was speaking to Chuck, I knew he would figure it out, to everyone else apologies.
Club Racing with the SCCA will now be requiring Hans devices. I believe this may also be required for DE (drivers education) days.
The deal is that people think there is comparable equipment for a cheaper price but the SCCA won't allow them. Which of course pisses people off.
It's about insurance and what they require to keep the price of the policy down or just carry the policy. I wonder if more clubs will have to do this.
I think it really sucks for the new guys going out to run the road courses. As if it wasn't an investment already, you tack on quite a bit more considering a lot of helmets cannot be retro-fitted for the Hans device. I.E. those who transistion from autox to road coure.
My friend T-Boned a car in a Chumps car race in GA at Roebling Road. The driver was off in the grass and instead of getting off the gas, getting the car straight before re-entry onto the track they applied the gas and went straight across in front of him. Even with the 5 point harness, as tight as it was, his head almost hit the steering wheel. Est speed 60 - 70 mph. Roll cages did their jobs for both parties. Afterwards they had found the belts had streched and should be replaced. So Hans isn't the worst idea, its just the fact that its strickly Hans that gets most people upset.Last edited by chi town brat; 09-29-2011 at 07:24 PM.

I see people out there spending money on the car to improve it … If you spend half that effort just working on your driving skills, making you and the car work together as a team, then you’ll go faster – period. To make the car go a second faster on the track takes a lot more energy and money than making yourself drive it one second faster.– the late Tom Thrash SCCA Solo E Production
