Opinions on the T-Rex trike
I figured this would be a better place to post rather than bike tech. I am looking at getting a Campagna T-Rex, and was looking to get opinions on if it is worth it. It will be a toy and not an every day driver, but during certain times of the year I would probably drive it a lot of days. Does anyone know of anyone/anywhere that has one locally? There is a few on ebay, I would like to see one first hand before I buy one. I don't need to drive it in case someone here knows someone that owns one, I just want to sit in it, see how big it is, etc. Thanks for the help, I tried to search for them around here, and I couldn't find any info, I know there isn't many around. Thanks again.

I've seen a couple just under the $30k mark, I've seen some in the lower $20k's but don't want to go with an 03-05 really. I can't find information about if it can be serviced by a bike shop or anything, I'm sure it can just wanted to be positive.

With that kind of money... used Ariel Atom > T-Rex trike.

Agreed about the Ariel Atom.... I know that one of the players or staff for the Rays had one that was parked at the stadium all the time. I personally have not driven one though so I can't really help. G/L

As far as I have looked, Ariel's are not only harder to come by, but also way more expensive.

Weren't Atoms for the UK market only?
I've personally have only ever seen two T-Rex's driving around in traffic. They look like fun toys but not sure it would get much use here in FL.VATO LOCO FOR LIFE

Yeah last time I checked they were around $60k new and thats very basic one. I'm pretty sure they are no where near 30k op is talking about.
Why not build something for $30k similar to Ariel? I mean sure you'll never have engineering capacity to complete something similar but a smart kart like vehicle would be cool.
No they started making them here in US too and had different engines than UK counterparts. I remember seeing 2-3 trex's around St. Pete and I always thought they were the coolest things ever.Last edited by Thaking; 09-13-2011 at 06:46 PM.

It's 20k for the kit
3k in suspensions parts from c5
under 1k for ls1
3k for g50 tranny
wheels and tires - 2k
and then a couple more grand for little things it doesnt come with plus the $700 shipping.

I don't honestly have the time to assemble/build the GTM, and to have it built would probably be 5-10k depending on how many hours it is, plus paint, etc. Plus I can't finance a kit car, I have great credit and was already approved for the t-rex I was looking at, and with the money down I won't be financing much at all.

Either buy it or dont, you're just like honda kids asking whether they should spend $7k on a 15 year old honda.
