Just bought a Dodge Durango

So I just got back from buying my new Dodge Durango. It's friggen clean and awesome. I'll have pictures in a little while, but this thing will make an excellent DD!

The carfax was a bit of a pain to get, but I'm super happy with it. The guy I bought it from said there were a lot of people interested, including one dude early this morning. I wanted to grab it before anyone else got it! Super happy!

What trick? The guys legitimately said there were lots of people looking at this truck. I didn't want to let anyone else buy it. I had to buy it before they did. He said because there were so many people looking at it, he'd have to charge me an extra $500 to make sure I could secure it. I told him that was not a big deal. He seemed very straight forward and honest.

Why would he have to charge you an extra 5 bills to hold? You couldn't of just put $500 towards the cost of the truck? Sorry, I just don't trust car salesman at all. Legit or not, they are all full of shit.

Idk. He seemed very honest. I didn't want to let the truck go. It's got 148K miles on it, and it's in pretty good condition. I don't think he was "full of shit". He only charged me $5900 before the extra $500 to hold it.

Basically, he wanted to seal the deal as quickly as possible, and did so by making you feel so rushed against other buyers that you put a $500 deposit on it, perhaps even before you got that CarFax that he did not want to show you.

It's a 98. It's really clean. I don't think he was trying to cheat me or anything like that. I really believe that there were a bunch of people trying to buy this truck. The speedo doesn't work, but I think that's just an electrical issue. We took it for a test drive, and it had a slight pull to the right, and a small vibration, but he said that was normal. Is that not normal for a truck like this? I feel like I got a good buy.

Oh and another "issue" is that the carpet smelled like cigarette smoke. He said that it would be really easy to get the smell out of the carpet.

Blue Book on the car is 2k less, and a speedo not working means the odometer isn't working so mileage would be well over 148k.
