    For that price I would rather buy a used Viper or a true mid 80's exotic sports car If I wanted something different.

    But would you consider if your spending $35k on a car, your probably an average-slightly above average income person, where the exotic (even older ones) are still 3-4 times the price to maintain than an LS1 car?

    Yes, I would have that in the consideration as well. The car will probably not see more than a couple thousand miles a year. I also know kit cars don't resale too well.

    If I was building a kit car, it would be a Factory Five Daytona Coupe.

    MIG is much easier, especially when the material welded is set in place, like in a tube chassis. TIG is generally stronger if done properly, it's just my opinion a race chassis should be TIG'd. Nevertheless, a tube chassis + LSx is bound to be nasty.
