For that price I would rather buy a used Viper or a true mid 80's exotic sports car If I wanted something different.

MIG is much easier, especially when the material welded is set in place, like in a tube chassis. TIG is generally stronger if done properly, it's just my opinion a race chassis should be TIG'd. Nevertheless, a tube chassis + LSx is bound to be nasty.
