My company gives me a weekly gas allowance. It was 70/week now it's 80/week.
Edit:
Did anyone else receive a letter in the mail for one of the dealers near you that is willing to purchase your car? I got a letter in the mail and they want to offer me up to 10k and some change for my Montego depending on the mileage and condition of my vehicle plus 7k off for a new vehicle.Last edited by CoRDiTe; 03-12-2011 at 10:09 AM.

I'm not complaining about what I pay. People on this website complaining about 30 dollar or 40 bucks to fill up that probably lasts them 2 weeks. My 95 civic coupe I had was around 25 to fill up and lasted me up to 3 weeks depending on how much I drove it. And that was when Gas was 2 and a half dollars. up to 2.89/gal. I didn't complain. My 94 Yota camry was around 8 bucks a week to keep the tires rolling. Now it's costing me about 14-15 a week to keep the tires rolling at about 3.45/gal and I use the car for work. I go to work and use it as a roving vehicle. I don't drive to work then park it and sit in a desk for 8 hours then drive it back home. Yes Gas prices are getting out of control but come on!!!! $30 bucks or $40 to fill your tank is not bad. Especially when gas prices are around $3.45/gal.
My 05 Montego has a 22 gallon tank. On average it costs me about $65/tank and lasts about 2weeks. Yes it's getting expensive, but I watch how I drive more then I ever. I don't hot rod it. I go the speed limit if not slower to get better gas milage. I also set the cruise. I take the express so I don't sit in any traffic and hit red lights and do stop and goes. I average between 350 and 370 on the tank. If I travel long distances (going to GA) I can get close to 425 on the tank with getting on it. If drove like miss daises driver I'd probably get more.Last edited by CoRDiTe; 03-12-2011 at 10:58 AM.

Looks like some of us have already found an alternative fuel.
Just a bad power steering pump:

^ It used to cost me $8 to $12 dollars back in 01 to fill up my mazda Protege depending on the price of gas and how much I had left in the tank. I used to pay .99 cents a gallon and the most I ever paid was $1.57 which was usually in the summer. Average was between $1.12 to about $1.27 in 2001 from what I was paying. They had gas wars. They lowered the price to bring people to the gas station. One day Race trac would be at 1.12 and the other would be at 1.14 then the next day the other gas station would either lower it to the same or put it a cent lower. I still remember back in 2004 when I just bought my Mercury Cougar from Courtesy Brandon gas was going up and down because of the Afgan and Iraq. It went up to about $1.67 in November of 04. I still remember. In 2004 we were still in the 1 dollar range. 6 years later we are about 2 and a half dollars above that depending on where you live.

I have 2 turbo rx7's... neither gas friendly. I have a full size silverado... cost me ~125 a tank for the cheap shit. Just driving the truck from the house, to work, to school, and home... i couldnt make one tank last all week. Keep in mind im that guy in the right lane accelerating like an old person who cant remember what pedal to push.... After doing that for a lil while i decided to scoop up a geo metro like we got my home girl. In Aug of 09 we picked her up lil red hatch for 700 bucks. Jumped on craigslist and started looking for metro's and swifts... 1800/2500/3000..... are you fucking kidding me! Talk about being raped! everyone wants to get over at someone elses expense (the American Dream). So i parked the truck right next to the two 7's, and i dropped 2 grand on a bike. No insurance... 14 bucks to fill up with premium. Bout 2 tanks a week (and im driving a bit more now). Figure 30 bucks a week on gas x 4 weeks... is 120 a month on gas for the bike.... compared to 125 x 4 which was 500. im now saving ~380 bucks a month, which means my bike pays for itself in just a lil over 5 months. Now factor in the insurance change from previous insurance to garage insurance (incase something hapens while its sitting still) and i honestly cant complain... When gas does go back down ill be saving even more. Plus ill be faster than your hondas and look better too

That's why I haven't purchased another vehicle yet cause I know it will cost me too much at the tank. This summer I wanted to get a summer toy. Like a jeep or vert, but with the way gas prices are I'll just stick to saving my money till gas is back to a reasonable price. I miss my RX-7's and no they aren't gas friendly, but were still a blast to drive. I've considered going hybrid. I've looked at lot's of Civic hybrids (used). Only thing I'm worried about is the battery. There are plenty of cars that get great gas mileage though. My 94 Camry gets very good gas mileage. That's the main reason I haven't gotten rid of it yet. If my Civic was an automatic and a 4dr I would of kept it and use it for work. My 2dr coupe lasted me 3 weeks driving it at work with a full tank of gas. I miss that little beast.
