Vehicle registration fees.
Ok so I remember in 09 they increased the vehicle registration fees. Looking at buying a used Honda for around 3k. After looking at the tax collector website it's gonna cost me almost 500 bucks after taxes, new tag, registration and license plate. Is this correct or am I reading this incorrectly?

Once I factor in the price of insurance i'll be close to 700 bucks just to put my car on the road. Someone please tell me i'm adding something up incorrectly here?
If this is in fact true is there a way around paying so much?

Cost us about 500 bucks for a new plate and everything to get our CRX on the road.

^this. As far as the DMV knows, I've never payed more than $10 for a car my whole life

And if you're putting a "new" car on the road, they charge an impact fee of like $255ish, unavoidable unless you're transferring registration from another car. My first s13 came out to $370 something when I registered it. New plate, registration, title transfer, but I did have some registration to transfer from my old car but it was considered an antique and didn't add up to a new car. Transferring from another car only cost me about $86 though. No way to avoid shitty tax collector fees... or lines.

it cost right around 350 bucks to register my Z a few months ago. We had to buy a new plate for it. But we also said we only paid 50 bucks for it. It would have been a lot more if the purchase price was more.
It has gotten pretty ridiculous, but that is what happens when you let certain people into office's of power. I'm hoping that sooner, rather than later, that the general masses will start to put it together that you can't cut taxes and increase spending without making up for it somewhere else. If there was no way to avoid it, I would much rather have a 1% increase in taxes instead of getting kicked in the balls with several hundred dollars worth of fees after I just dropped a stack of cash on a car.
