No! Don't get me wrong i wasn't expecting to come out on top of this deal but due to my medical shit i figured if the deal was good enough i would take it. I understand how car trading works and I am keeping the car. Now for the third time I'll ask if anyone has any mechanics they can suggest if not thanx for all the advice guys.

    THIS.

You really need to ask yourself why you're trying to buy/trade a prelude off of a Mexi-lot car dealer who got the car from an Auction where it was beat the piss out of, who got it from a dealership where it was beat the piss out of, who got it from someone who traded it in because they beat the piss out of it and it was old.

It's already been said before, but that dealer is going to get your car from you for cheap, and flip it for at least a grand if not more. Almost all used car dealers like that one will not do a deal if they don't think they can flip your car for at least a grand. Usually they will strip you to the bone. Trust me, I worked at a used car auction for 4 years, I know how they think and I know all the stupid bullshit they do. You think that prelude is nice? If only you knew the things we used to do to cars that came into the auction. Keys are back in the office to move it? No problem!!! We'll drag it halfway across the lot with a truck and chain! Boom goes the diff and tranny!

Wait till you get it home and a week later you discover some problem you didn't see at the lot. Wait till you get it home and the motor seizes up, or you find out the oil pan had a crack and they jb welded that shit. I'm telling you, this is bad news, and you want to stay away from it.

Again, it looks like you're set on this prelude, which is your choice. However, I would take a step back, and say "Is this really what I want for a long term vehicle, or am I being rash and wanting this NOW NOW NOW?" If you take the time, and try and either sell your car for straight cash, or even put up a craigslist ad for a trade, you'd be surprised at the responses you may get.

Cash talks, bullshit walks. When you walk into a tiny ass dealership like that, and you have cash in hand, you become their best friend. When you only have your car to trade, they will make it as hard as possible for you. It's your decision, but I'm just trying to help you, and for once not be an asshole.

I think everyone needs to see this post again if anyone missed it. Hedge thanx for all that info but i've bought plenty of cars of lots like that and know what problems they have. I bought my eclipse off the same type of lot and a week later the clutch went out.
I am not selling the car until i get the work done but i'm might as well shut this thread down cuz i'm not getting any help finding a mechanic. Thanx for those who were helpful

If you're still looking for a mechanic to do the work on your car I can ask the guy who works on mine...he's got some decent connections as far as getting the technical machine work done cheaply and his prices aren't too shabby either...I'd tell you what I payed to get my whole engine overhauled but that might piss him off...the dude lives about 20 miles this side of orlando off I-4....let me know what you want to do.

I shot that name and number over to you...get some estimates so you have a basis to strike a deal with him on.

Also...hedgehog...did you work at the big auction lot there in tampa? Cause I used to deliver cars to dealerships from that auction...I could tell you some horror stories about things that were done to cars on their way from the auction to the dealership...put it this way...dont give a 20 year old kid the keys to a rousch 440a that's had extensive work done to it lol.

I worked for "Your Auction Inc." that was in St. Pete. They have a few locations but their big one is off of Scherer Drive in St. Pete. The rest of the time I was at the one in Ft. Myers. I totally agree. We used to have to move the cars all around the lot, and we would be the ever living piss out of them. In fact, one time a kid posted up on here about the 97 Mitsu Eclipse (non turbo of course) that he bought from a dealership. He posted the pictures, and 2 weeks earlier that car had been at our auction. Not only did I ebrake slide that bitch everywhere, but I also neutral dropped it like 30 times when my Operations manager and I were fucking around. I felt so bad because this kid was so happy and yet I knew how shitty that car was.

We used to find guns and drugs in the cars. One time, we found a gun, took the car down to the back of the lot, and shot the trunk up with the 6 bullets in the chamber. We didn't give a fuck hahahahaha.

Just for shits, another time at the Ft. Myers location, we were brought a Dodge viper (04 or 05 I don't remember.) My manager was given the keys with specific instructions only to drive it through the lane at the auction and then park it. Right............After the guy left which was one day before the auction, we waited till 5:30, and my boss comes out and throws me the keys. (He couldn't drive stick very well) I almost shit my pants. I think we put a total of 15 miles on the car, of which I would say 12 of them were full throttle.

lmao...never occured to me to check the cars for stuff people missed or forgot...that's probably a gold mine. And yeah...it's always good to be "that one guy who can drive stick" at a job like that...that's how I wound up behind the wheel of the 440a. The bad thing is that the old guys on the crew were actually worse on the cars than I was...and I was trying to beat the piss out of em...I watched those fools almost roll a nautica edition dodge grand caravan on I4.
