Congratulations to 1st place Eddie Hernandez, '85 Black Mazda RX-7
Congratulations to 2nd Place Scott Risley, 1,000 horsepower '94 Supra
Congratulations to 3rd Place Steve Strickland, '07 Red Mazdaspeed3

Trophys were unique, one-of a kind and custom built.
An idea that may have escaped past people who have only "traditional"
"off-the-shelf" trophies.

I have a wall of trophies from when I raced sailboats. The ones that stand out
are the creative ones ....handcrafted, teak wood, famous sailing one-of-a-kind
artwork, stained glass.....The year I won the Hobie Cat Superstocks,
those jokers put one square inch of duct tape on the wooden plaque........
It meant a lot....I later nailed the duct tape to the wood to be sure it would NEVER
come off........at the meets, you will have to ask me about the significance of my
win and one square inch of duct tape.....LOL

By comparison......
Nascar not only gives away cash, but presents Guitars in Nashville, Tennessee,
Grandfather Clocks in Virginia, Matching Pistols in Texas, a stone statue from
Rockingham, and other unique trophies.......

From Sunday,
3rd place trophy was made from a camshaft.
Second Place was made from a connecting rod.
First place was made from Turbo Charger fins.

I hope you folks continue the uniqueness of your trophies. When people see
one of your awards, there will be no doubt where it was won. The only way it
could be improved would be when you go three deep in several classes, weld
3 connecting rods for first, two connecting rods for 2nd and one connecting
rod for third..........Big Camshaft for first, shorter camshaft for 2nd, etc......you
get the idea.....

Folks, when you see the trophy winners, congratulate them, and tell them you

How can you not think this is a sweet ass first place trophy? Im sure everyone else would agree with me lol.

Thanks for posting this! Again, the trophies were awesome. Derrick @ A.R.T is a fantastic welder and extremely creative and innovative. We will maintain the creativity in our future events .

Thanks for coming out and helping out even though that was not expected of you. The event was a success thanks to those who helped in every way possible and to those who attended.

We had over 130 cars show and over 30 cars dyno total. Over 160 burgers and 140 hot dogs were served and just as much caffeine and sugar to wash it all down.

This was our first event between the two businesses and will most definitely not be the last. Thanks again.
