^ Too bad that doesn't exist anymore.
My vote is the TDI Jetta sport wagon or a volvo wagon. Both available on the cheap used as well as new if thats your thing.

I would go with the A4 Avant. I would have said A3, but you have dogs and they wouldn't fit in the back.

The MKIV TDI wagons are around $10k depending on mileage, which is about 1/4 the price of an A4 avant new.

Good to know. I'm just recommending something that we've owned and liked not something that I've read about.....My wife had an 07' caliber and they didn't have any major recall's out when she owned it that I can remember

She totalled that out and we got her an 08' CX-7 which is a much nicer overall car anyway's. But,the CX-7 doesn't have a built-in flash light though

Buy American, so you don't have to spend an arm and a leg whenever it comes time to fix it

^ maybe so.. But you will be fixing it all the time.. I hate Mopar...
not really just throwing a fit like every other person on Tr...
what price range are you looking for?
I have a few friends with a older Subaru wagons that can fit a lot in them.. like 95s with 250k miles and still rocking...

Yeah, part of the rear cargo light pop's off and it is a rechargeable LED flashlight. Pretty handy when you drop something out of the car at night....I'm not sure if that's standard though as it was fully loaded minus the MusicGate in the back...
Anyhow, back on topic. Maybe check out a Saabaru or Subaru Outback, Legacy wagon, Forester, Mazda6 wagon,Kia Soul,Nissan Cube,Scion Xb.... Soo many choices...

If it was for me primarily it'd be a truck hands down. This would be for her. I'm waiting till the new F150's hit the show room to test drive the new v6 turbo and make up my mind.
