2011 Mustang 5.0 or 2011 Camaro SS1?
My car got totalled (not my fault), and now im in the process of buying a new sportcar. So i have been looking at both cars around 32,000. I do understand HP/TQ are about the same, and the mustang is about 250 LBS lighter. I also plan to do some simple mods to the car. exhaust-headers-CAI- and tunning. And depending wich make i go with im also looking for a performance shop. Can you guys give some input? Chevy or Ford.

I think the Mustang is hideous and the Camaro is capable of looking decent. I would absolutely buy the Camaro. The Mustang was looking halfway decent and they chubbed it up in all the wrong places.
You may know who we are, but we KNOW who you are.

Not to be biased but the Camaro SS. GREAT power/reliability and it's an LS series motor, Huge Brembos and great tire/wheel combo, Interior is really cool/nice. And i also think the Camaro just looks better overall!
Was never a Mustang fan.

I can't stand the new Camaros. 5.0 Mustang with the Brembo brake package all the way... I've got to go test drive one because everything I hear is that they are an absolute blast to drive.

I had a 2SS that I put about 6,000 miles on so I can at least share my experience.
Honestly, the performance side was lacking. Yeah it has 20" wheels and big brakes, they look good but add a ton of rotating weight to a car that is already overweight. It had horrid amounts of understeer which I find unacceptable in a RWD car. A few people said they had lessened it with different wheel/tire combinations and widening up the front tires but this should have been remedied before these cars were ever built. Straight line performance was alright but not impressive by any means. The LS3 is a great motor but when it's pushing close to 4,000 pounds, well you get the idea. I never had it at the track but it didn't seem any faster than my bolt on 4th gen.
All that stuff aside, it would make a great daily driver. The interior is great, the seats were comfortable, not too much road noise, and the radio in the 2SS was awesome.
It really depends on what you're looking for. From your original post I would say you're looking more for the best performance numbers you can get for the money spent. I haven't gotten a chance to drive the new 5.0 GT but on paper it looks like the better performer. As far as looks I think the Camaro wins but you can easily decide that for yourself.

Well guess it comes down to what you beleive. I'm not buying shit from gm till they become a private company again if ever.
The mustang seems to be cheaper and lighter. I'd bet you could get a ford guy to get you the employee plan. D-plan or similar.

hmm. a d-plan as an Employee discount?. I drove the mustang and it was quick and handled ok, i use to have a 640RWHP car so 380 at the wheels feels slow to me. i have yet to drive the Camaro, hopefully tomorrow i can. Keep the feedback coming.
