Wanna Know Your Final Gear Ratio ? ?
OK everyone, for the purpose of calculating what set of lower gears I'm going to put into the porsche I have been doing a lot of final gear ratio calculations lately. I think I have a good idea what ratio I'm going with but I wouldn't mind getting a sample of what some of the ratios other TR people are running.
Here is a link to my final gear ratio calculator so you all can play with it but in return if some of you fast off the line people could post your final ratios I would appreciate it greatly.

Unfortunately I have discovered that the cost of a ring and pinion for the 930 is 3 to 4 times the cost of one for a mustang or camaro.
For some of you with overdrives this will not represent your axle ratio but instead the combination of your OD ratio and axle ratio.

All these numbers are certainly reminding me why almost anything will get the jump on me from a dead stop.

If your top gear is a 1:1, yes this ratio is your rear end ratio.Originally posted by "SR20DET"
I think there is some confusion here....... I think we are listing the gear in the rear-end, is that what you are asking for ??
Some modern vehicles with autos and transaxles have an overdrive top gear that creates a faster tranny output and uses a higher ratio rear end, but for my purposes I don't need to know about that.
My equation only shows you Engine RPM divided by Rear Wheel RPM.
The reason I am asking for top gear ratios is it gives me a good conceptual idea of what kind of gearing different people are running.

Re: Wanna Know Your Final Gear Ratio ? ?
3.94 with an 8400 rpm limit. The tranny is close ratio box out of an 83 VW GTi.
This page will allow you to calculate you speed in a certain gear with a certain size tire.
