Porsche 911 GT3R Hybrid

Basically, the standard GT3 R, with its 480-hp 4.0-liter flat-six, has two electric motors added to the front wheels. Under braking, they act as generators and store the energy in a flywheel. The motors can then provide up to 160 additional hp for short (6 to 8 seconds) bursts of speed. There are no batteries.
Check out Porsche's web special for more info and some slick wallpapers.

I don't think it's been officially announced yet, but there's going to be a hybrid cayenne coming out soon.

If they started putting these in normal 911's and replacing the rear seat with this system, it would be badass. Even the boxster. Imagine having 180hp on tap for short bursts.

Im sure the 6-8 second burst charge would only be under heavy braking as in when racing.... But simply badass when it comes down to it tho and very inventive

I see people out there spending money on the car to improve it … If you spend half that effort just working on your driving skills, making you and the car work together as a team, then you’ll go faster – period. To make the car go a second faster on the track takes a lot more energy and money than making yourself drive it one second faster.– the late Tom Thrash SCCA Solo E Production

I guess you may as well use that energy for something - besides heating up the rotors
