Thread: Battle Wings

Besides for show is there any other reason for having a giant spoiler (some are even multilevel) on front wheel drive cars. I have asked some people out at Gandi about their Battle Wings some said that they do have a purpose but none could offer a plausible explanation. One crudely constructed example that I was unfortune enough to see was mounted at an UPWARD slope. I dont exactly have a Phd in aerodynamics from Harvard but would that not actally lift the rear end off the ground?

they suck they look awful they add un-needed weight.
and yes that would lift the rear off the groundbut the owner would most likley say it helps him when he is drifting.

As someone with a degree in Aerospace Engineering I must agree that 99 percent of the wings and fins I see are
SO COMPLETELY STOOOOPID !
At least the tasteful fin on the back of my car serves 3 important purposes.
1 - It acts as an air scoop on the rear of the car to cram cooling air into the engine compartment.
2 - It sheds a vortex into the delaminating flow coming off the rear of the car which helps to close the flow of the air behind me and therefore reduces drag.
3 - It makes the rear of the car look great. I just cant appreciate a narrow body 911 without a fin after living with my 930 for so long. For those of you who dont get the experience every day here is a nice ass shot of someone elses 930 since I dont have any pictures of my own.

the wings also double as a nice picnic area or bench if you;re waiting in a parking lot for someone.
