The G8 lives on!
I had a feeling GM would try and keep the G8 platform in the U.S.

Bob Lutz is back, and after what seems like five minutes into his job as GM's new marketing kingpin, he's doing what he does best: making headlines. Rest assured that this is a good thing, as El Generalissimo Roberto Maximo told Automobile Magazine that yes, the Pontiac G8 will live on in the United States as the Chevy Caprice. So much for Fritz "I'm not a fan of rebadging" Henderson's statement to the contrary a couple of weeks ago.
"The last time we looked at [the G8], we decided that we would continue to import it as a Chevrolet. It is kind of too good to waste," Lutz told the mag. As for the G8 being "too good to waste": Amen to that, Bob. This also makes us wonder if law enforcement-grade models will be part of the deal with Holden to continue production. Chevy Caprice police cars? That's got a very familiar ring to it. The next question is whether a U.S. Caprice would mimic the Middle East-market Caprice, which is based on the long-wheelbase Holden Caprice/Statesman, or whether it will simply be a Chevy-badged version of the standard-wheelbase Holden Commodore/Pontiac G8/Chevrolet Lumina. Frankly, as long as there's ultimately a Caprice SS that is identical to the Pontiac G8 GXP in every critical way, we don't care.Patrick -

I forgot to mention that is the Middle Eastern based Caprice SS, so there is a good chance that the style will change when it comes here.

different front grille and wheels and it won't be so gross. also, silver is not a complimenting color on that model. i'll take the black one though. at least a RWD car with some power is saved from the chopping block!
as much as i have looked at bmws and other cars, i may be tempted to pick up a used G8 as my next car. they're very under the radar, and would be fun to mod. still waiting a few years to see how the resale goes on them and how theyre holding up.

I hate pontiac front ends, yet this looks 50x worse.
I love g8's though, I guess I'd just holden front end one of them since that looks like complete shit
edit, the holden front end is ugly too. it looks like for once the us market actually got the best end of the deal, now they fucked us
This is a stick up, don't make it murder.

I see people out there spending money on the car to improve it … If you spend half that effort just working on your driving skills, making you and the car work together as a team, then you’ll go faster – period. To make the car go a second faster on the track takes a lot more energy and money than making yourself drive it one second faster.– the late Tom Thrash SCCA Solo E Production
