I know of blacksmith who does this type of work for a lot cheaper...I'll try to find his number and post it if I do because I'm at work right now. He made a copy of my Lexus key a couple of weeks ago...he told me he also programs chipped keys and can make a key in case the orignal key is lost.

Sounds about right for a stealership. Most of these "new age" keys contain the chip, and programing that fob is also needed.

Modern keys suck. My dad bought a new key for his 98 wrangler years ago and it cost him $275. I nearly shat myself when I had to replace my key and the tech at the dealer told me it was $10.

Well this is the guy I was talking about earlier. I don't remember his name but his number is 813-454-1921. I'm pretty sure he can help you out for a lot cheaper as well.

yeah those FOB's are nice but to replace them sucks. I like my Honda keys you can get them made at walmart for a few bucks
In fact it was such a good price I had 5 keys made just for the hell of it so if I lose one its no big deal. I do need a keyless entry remote, previous owner had lost it.

my gf new scion is almost $500 for a spare from the stealership wtf!!! luckly i havent tried on my altima but my truck was 60 with key and programing.
^only problem is theres a reason for the chip and ive seen old honda keys that are basically useless those cars get to the point you can use any old honda key and they will start...we had a late 80's hatch and almost any key turned it on lol,why did i drive a neon? click the link to the old ride: http://acrracing.tripod.com/
