Its a 2 speed automatic, a powerglide.

I like the lack of a blast shield incase the transmission blows to bits. I thought that was a requirement on cars like that?

yeah they use 2 speed power glide trannys because they only use 2 gears to make it down the track and those cars are only used for the track not on the street. so yeah does that explain it enough brother?

Its an overly built 2 speed automatic but they shift it manually.

I have a 2 speed powerglide that I shit manually . . . . although the flat six powering it can't do any better than a 19 down the 1/4 lol
