Well, to also come to this guy's defense, there's a part of my road that has a house maybe every 1,000ft. and it's a damn 30mph just because it's a "residential" place. I've done 70+ many a time when I've screwed with my car and needed to test it out on a long strip. It could have been a situation like that.

We've all done stupid things but those of us with common sense haven't logged on to TR to talk about it. Sometimes you just get this brain fart where you don't really think about what you're doing until the cop has pulled up and you're like "oh, yeah, that actually was pretty stupid and dangerous."

A few years ago my friend and I had the great idea to see what his exhaust sounded like from outside the car during fly-bys. So we hopped in the car and drove 300 feet down to the nearest straight stretch of road and started doing second and third gear pulls. Then we saw somebody outside on the phone watching us, stopped and thought about it, and realized we were getting up to nearly 70 mph on a road where that was a really bad idea. It was like "oh, wait, we probably shouldn't be going that fast on this road." So we headed back home only to have a cop pull up in front of the house ten minutes later and give us a stern warning. We both felt pretty bad about it once the testosterone had gone away and the first thought in 10 minutes went through our heads.
