Whoever prices the cars at Hondaland....

....is out of their damn mind.

I just went to Hondaland to BS with a salesman since I'm interested in a new car and I'm test driving an SI tomorrow, and I check out the Mugen SI they have in the showroom.

Don't get me wrong, its a really beautiful car, but they want $45,000 for what is basically a $23000 SI with a body kit and new badges. The base MSRP was $31000 I believe, the rest is an "adjustment".

What do you get for your extra $10,000 over a factory SI? A sport exhaust, the badges, lips, diffuser, and spoiler, and the "track tuned" mugen suspension. No engine modifications, no extra horsepower at all. The interior is almost exactly the same.

If you haven't seen one here it is.

You didn't post a pic, but yes, they've had that particular one for a while now. Theres a difference between Demand mark up, and stupid mark up. Paying $120k for a GTR is demand mark up, paying $45k for a SI is stupid mark up.

Every decent sized dealership was given one of them. There are only a thousand or so in the country, and they only come in blue.

I'd buy the damn thing if I could talk them down to about $25k I'll see if I have mastered the TR low-ball.

If the MSRP on that car is $31k or w/e you said, the invoice is probably around..$26k or so. Theres no way their gonna sell it for $25k IMO, if its that rare of a car, you'll be lucky to get anything below MSRP, none the less below the mark up.

Edit: the MSRP is $30,170...the invoice is $25,986.51. 4 grand gross on it, plus the mark up, plus they'll put an ''apperance package'' on it which is usually another g. You could probably buy it for $30,000 or so..

Well they're not really selling many SIs, so they're pricing those pretty well. They don't even let anyone sit in the Mugen SI, much less test drive it. They know with gas prices most people aren't looking for something that only gets 21 city. There is almost zero demand for the car, despite its rarity. I bet I could get them well under $30k.
