I just got back from test driving the SI Coupe. It was decent, didn't feel very quick, but I didn't get to wind out the engine at all. You can tell the car weighs as much as it does though, it had alot of body roll, and the clutch feel was really vauge. I told the guy I was interested in the Mugen SI, and I was very interested to see that since my visit yesterday, the dealer mark up has dropped from $15000 to $4000. They are now asking $34130. I talked them down to $27000, and they'd give me $8000 for my Type R swapped 97 coupe. With the cowl hood. And black fenders. And spray painted front bumper. And ebay headlights. And no AC. And bald ass tires. And leather seats that need to be reupholstered.
![]() The salesman was so gung ho about the whole deal I imagine I could just get the car for invoice ($25000), get $10k for my car when its done (fixing everything mentioned above), and have decent payments. If I can get that deal done, then I might consider buying it. Otherwise I'll just trade the coupe for $8k and roll in a red SI coupe. |

The engine alone in my car cost me $5000, and the rest of the car it worth about $3k on a good day. But thats the trade in value he offered me. Despite the fact that they can't accept trades with engine swaps. I imagine they could sell it pretty easily, leather seats, more HP than new SIs, better gas mileage than new SIs, power everything and 4-wheel disc brakes. Not to mention the mad tyte JDM factor.

If you got offered 8k for your car and they were going to sell you the mugen for 27 I would do it. However Ill believe that deal when I see it (the trade part) Brandon Honda still has their Mugen and I offered 24. I got laughed at. Oh well. Talk to Scott at Brandon Honda to try that deal if you want.
Good luck getting a Rallye Red SI coupe. I just bought the only one in FL. |
