reckless driving : \ U-turn

I got pulled over and cited for reckless driving today. I was making a quick U-Turn and the wheels came out a bit and a cop happen to be coming, he was really far away, and I did not intend to have the wheels slip : \

Besides someone saying "your effed in the a" anyone have and suggestions or help? From what I read online this is a huge huge deal, with the possibility of jail time. So needless to say, I'm worried as hell : \ so any help would be really appreciated!

Go to court, cut a deal. Shit at least get it reduced to something like not heeding to a traffic control device. G/L

How do I explain my self? I assume the cop will be there so if I say I accidentally slipped the tires he will call bs on me and talk a bunch of trash?

theres a 50/50 chance if you take it to court the cop wont show up, i got a careless driving ticket and the cop did not show up when i took it to court.

man, that would be awesome. I mean, its not like i was doing 40 over in a school zone. I was just making a u-turn : \ Chances are im not completely screwed? Do I need a lawyer for this? I am in the middle of a 3 year break up and have to pay for a new place to live and such. all this month already : \

Oh, I forgot to mention I had expired temp tag that he took and cited me for also. So I am sitting in my car now waiting on a ride on my laptop : \ hah.

not necessarily cheap though, mine costing me 2500, granted, im getting accused of a felony so its a little diff.

I think you ratio is a little messed up. 90% of the time the cops will show up. They actually get the day off to go to court and they still get paid for it. Not to mention their bosses usually require them to show up. There are some instances when they can't but I guarantee you its not 50% of the time. Hire a lawyer. you want to get that reckless downgraded if possible. your insurance rate will skyrocket if it stays reckless. good luck

how does your driving record look? that plays a big role into the judges verdict. if its not bad i say just tell the judge what happened (as long as that is what really happened) and go from there. i highly doubt youll get anything to serious if you have a clean record

Keith Warshofsky and Dennis Lopez are good traffic lawyers I hope it works out for you I had a reckless one time for sliding around a turn at night in the USF parking garage and the cop messed up writing the ticket so he threw it out

idk if the cop has to be there. idk how it is in tampa but ive had 2 reckless driving tickets in pinellas and i never saw the cops again. but when i got my first one it was in regular traffic court and the judge was nice all i had to do was pay 300 in court costs, take the 12 hour class and was on probation for 3 month but i only had to show up once for that. and they with held judication. which meant i didnt get points for it.

Unfortunatly not great. I have a few speeding tickets from a few years ago, one that is still yet to be paid : \ I was coming across the gandy bridge going 56 (in a 55) and it turned right to 35, and there were like 5 cops in the bushes with lasers.

your right with a reckless driving ticket the cop dosent need to appear because it is a criminal offense.

Wow dude that sucks. I did the same thing a couple of years ago but the cop went easy on me and just gave me a Careless Driving ticket...I just paid it and got it over with.

Definitely find yourself a lawyer and good luck! Hope things work out for ya.
