best coolant mixture that everyone uses?

its not hard i usually just put about a gallon or so of distilled start the car then pour in the water wetter (one bottle will usually treat up to 5 or 10 gallons) then top off with more distilled then leave the car running for about 10 min to allow water to mix well..

YEP!!! And it does sound like your thermostat. Got so caught up in the mixture question that I forgot to comment on your temp problem. Thermostat should fix that no problem.

I don't buy that premix bullshit. If you think about it, it's already premixed for you so you are getting robbed of coolant you are not getting but are paying for. I get the green stuff, and some distilled water if I really care about the car, then I do a 60/40 mix.

If things are getting too hot, put some water wetter into the coolant tank. it's eventually mix in and bring temps down.

As far as the mixture, I run about 70/30 water/coolant myself. Coolant is only necessary in Florida for corrosion inhibiting and water pump lubrication.

hardly, coolant raises the boiling point as well as lowers the freezing point. in older cars especially with bigger engines you'll want coolant to help it not fucking roast.

i've heard good things about that wetter water stuff, but it is expensive, so I've never tried it...

Coolant does not raise the boiling point. It does lower the freezing point though. If you bother to look around for yourself you would see that water has a significantly higher boiling point than Anti-freeze.

Basically what everyone calls "Coolant" is really just "Anti-Freeze" that has been adopted as the universal coolant supply.

ALL cars ship with this because the manufacturers have no way of knowing where each individual car will go and it allows them to streamline the situation. Not to mention for most people it will never be an issue.

the premix 50/50

Why would you pay for 50/50 when 100% coolent is the same price. You get twice the coolent for the same price and its not hard to mix it yourself...

I run 75/25 distillwater/coolent mix in a cast iron block.

I just get Prestone or Peak Coolant and mix it 50/50 with distilled water. Never had a problem.

If I'm really in the mood I just go get some Honda/Acura stuff. Otherwise its waterwetter or what ^Kaluwa said.

50/50 water from the hose and coolant. works fine for me.
