the smart car is too short to be competitive in anything. If you were building a car, wheelbase is always a plus. Thats why drag VW guys add wheel base to the front of the bugs.
I would just drop one in a CRX with some ballin' ass wheels and go turbo and noone would expect shit.

Why does it have to be a busa engine?

cant you ship a smart shell from europe, those cars have been out there for a while now...since about 98. Best would be if you could find a shell of a smart roadster...

true but customs is a pain and trying to track down a willing place/person is a hassle too. Been there, done that.
I also don't think anyone would be trying to a smart car a drag car...I don't think this smart car would be used as a competitive anything hence the guys first statement.

doing it in any heavy car would just be really fucking stupid, if you did it in a 240 you would get flamed, for the price you could have a badass chevy 350 or sr20 with over double the torque and power in a 240...
do a busa swap in somthing small and unique, otherwise its a waste.
here look

one guy who frequently drives on the Nordschleife has a Honda VTEC engine in his classic Mini Clubman

and he beats Porsches with it.
and we have Smart cars galore here in germany, I hate them, they're everywhere.
try to get one of these, but good luck, they are limited and expensive as fuck. comes with neoprene seats and a drain hole, the "doors" open like Lambo doors.

^ Woah. I'd autocross the shit out of that thing.
I go to school with a guy who has a classic mini and he always bugs me about swapping a honda motor into it.

he should do the swap, he can seriously beat some cars with it on an auto-X....or better on a real track.
I'm curious, what kind of Smart cars do you have in the US?
except for the Crossblade ^ we also have these
Smart ForTwo

(Facelift, the older models turbo outlet were used to fill gas in it, mostly by women......one of them filled the car up with more than 120 liters lol. the new Smarts come with a different outlet cover)
heres a video what shows what I mean (german though)
YouTube - Dmotor Smart betanken
Smart ForFour (4 people fit in there)

Smart Convertible

Smart Roadster

Smart Coupe

Brabus ForTwo (also available as Roadster)
