c5z06 hands down. great gas mileage, great power even stock, cheap insurance (I even have a Vehicle Injury Rating Discount on my insurance). Corvettes are actually pretty safe cars. The frame is incredibly strong.


I had an 02 Z06 and loved it. sold it to free up some money and buy a house and now I am back in a 2000 FRC. I took it to seaworld and back last friday and averaged 30.1mpg according to my dic (driver information center). Also how are you guys getting these high insurance quotes? I paid $76/month for my z06 full coverage back in 04 when I was 22. Now I pay $72/month full coverage on my 00 frc. Do you have a bad driving history? bad credit? over insuring? Just curious. Also dont be concerned with the mileage if the owner can provide record of regular maintenance. My frc has 87k on the clock and runs like it just came off the showroom floor. It has been dealer maintained every 3k miles since new also. here is another highmileage car.

Get a cheap, gas sipping daily driver for a while and save.

Most practical and intelligent thing in this thread. What you really need to do is pick up and older reliable sedan for awhile. Honda Accord comes to mind, as well as Infiniti G20....
