where can I get a motor flush done?
Its for my moms car, a 01 sunfire.
lots of sludge in this engine, ticking like crazy from what we think is just valves and shit... i pretty much need the head removed and fully cleaned, and the oil pan puilled and cleaned. typically a motor flush, what shops can do it, where can it be done, how much about.... thanks
i can do it myself but i just work a lot and rather pay to have it done for her quickly.

Seems like you're looking for a engine rebuild my friend.....if you're taking the head off and dismantling valves and such i'd imagine you'd want to replace head gasket, other gaskets/seals, etc. at the same time.......
just suggestions.

An engine flush to remove sludge is a generally bad idea. The chemicals needed to do this are VERY caustic and will damage gaskets and seals. Not to mention that sludge can harden like concrete, so if you don't get most or all of the particles out, they can cause engine and valve train damage. My sister's 97 Civic LX had a horrible case of engine sludge that we found when we changed the valve cover gasket. We called our family mechanic and he said that unless we want to get engine knock within a week or two of the flush, the best bet was to lightly clean off that which you can see with a rag, and then decrease oil change intervals to 2000 miles to help melt some of the sludge. This is what we've been doing since then. Even at 2000 miles the oil looks THICK. I'll take the valve cover off later this summer to see the progress.
Just my .02 cents.

There is something the Miata boys do called a 2TWISTY engine flush (name from the person on Miata.net who came up with the concept). I have performed it on several cars with great success.
Here is a link: East-Side Miatas of Tampa Bay
Obviously the ratio will stay the same but the amounts would change based on how much oil her car will hold.

I've heard that or variations of that done before. It'll work for run-of-the-mill jobs, but you'll need to do that 20 times to clean the amount of sludge this guy is talking about.
But yeah, if you're set on it, no worries. Any shop should be able to do it for you. Just make sure you get quotes for a rebuild too.
I'm not trying to be a dick, but written literature states that engine/transmission flushes, especially on new cars with tighter tolerances, can cause big problems.

I use seafoam for cleaning the intake. You can use it for the crankcase but ATF works as well.

im an expert and im telling you to leave it alone. If you feel the need to rip the motor apart just go buy another motor, it will be cheaper and easier in the short and long run. If its really sludged up and you decide to run some 5 minute motor flush thru it, its just going to clog up your oil pump and you aer going to be messing up a motor. Like I said, just leave it alone and keep up with your oil changes and let it come out naturally and slowly.
