People with heavily modded cars
I just wanted to know if you people with heavily modded cars have a solid consistence idle. I wanna know if its just a rotary thing or a modded car thing, its really not bad but itl be at 900 constant then go up to 1000 for 30 seconds then back down to 900.

Its sounds like on piston cars that would be due to the cams, but on rotarys, when you go to the drag strip, you can hear them idling like that. But those are ported. Is your car ported?

my stock 04 rx8 does that.. I think its normal, alot of people whine about it and nobody gets it fixed so im assuming its normal and not an issue. It doesnt bother me as long as it stays running and no more then 100-200 rpm jumps

i dont know if you would consider my car as heavily modded but my car from a cold start tends to bounce a bit but once warmed up she idles very well... you can see my mods in my garage....

my lil honda only has intake and header, and when i start it is rather high, 1500, almost 2000 sometimes, but if i let it warm up it goes to 1000, but sometimes its still at 1500/2000 not sure why

Considering its not that high of a surge in idle I wouldn't worry about it. It could be an accessory that is kicking on to just a little jump in idle that the ECU gives the car. Do you have the a/c on or anything when it does that? Cause that could be whats causing the slight raise in idle.
But unless its going to like 1500+ randomly for no reason I wouldn't worry about it...
Are you on a base map?

I don't use the ac so its not that. Its really not that bad its just very noticeable because of how ridiculously loud my car is. Im not on a base map and its done it ever since ive owned the car. I honestly think its just because of how loud my car is, my gf's tiburon does it sometimes but I don't notice because its so quiet.

My car idles perfect with a modded maf.Rotaries never idle right.Try cleaning the throttle body and see if it helps.

Mine jumps around quite a bit at idle. I have been told it is because of the O2 sensor readings being out of spec and the ECU is constantly modifying the A/F ratio attempting to get the car back into spec (this is verified by my A/F cycling from 12.5 to 14.5 constantly at idle). I could tune it out if I wanted to but that takes time and it isnt hurting anything.

It's a rotary thing, it will be higher on start up and drop down once the engine warms up. I think it has something to do with the microtech. I see idle speeds ranging from 900-1500, as long as it is not jumping up and down and staying at one constant speed your fine.
