Other than for fitment, not much. Drifter guys like to stretch because it provides a stiffer sidewall and helps with their initial breakaway, and there's no sidewall rollover. A very very mild/slight stretch can be ok in some cases, but I usually prefer a properly sized tire.
But bubbly overblown tires on a small rim suck worse lol. Unless it's a slick!
