Rear wheel question 89 GT
I have the disc brake SN95 rear with the Fox axles. The wheel is a 15x8 Weld with a 5.5 bs. Tire is a 275/60 15 and its tight cause its a GT and the ground effects.
So my question is will a 15x10 Weld fit this car with the 6.5 BS? The car has the factory wheel tubs.NEW Machine

from what I have seen it depends on which tires as some 275's measure different not only in width but height also. Now the centerline of the tire will not change going to a 10" rim but the bulge on the tire will. A 8" rim will pull the sides a little more where as the 10" rim lets more of a flat sidewall if you know what I mean. Oh heck just get a bigger hammer also while your at it.
Top of the tire to where it goes in on the sides to the rim is more curved in on a 8" rim but as you widen the rim the side wall will be more of a 90* to the rim and this is the area you will have rub
Only 1/4 mile track I know is Gandy Bridge

So if the car sits low there will be an issue with the wider rims. I already had to trim the ground effects using a Prostar on a 15x8 5.5 BS. 275/60 MT and Hoosier.
Guess why I see a lot going to the 15x9.. but those are pricey

Is your car 5 lug? I have a set of 5 lug Champions with the dimension you inquiring about and they have asome 275/60 mickeys mounted on them. Only thing that may make them a tight fit will be the sn/95 brakes which pushes the wheels out some. Your more than welcome to bolt them on and test fit

If its fox width and I currently have the Prostars that are 15x8 on a 5.5 you think the 9 won't fit? Or should it have been 6.0 bs?

Nah.. that was my first problem. As it had SN95 axles with the Cobra R wheels.
I swapped to the Fox axles and John at All American handled modifying the brackets to move the calipers inward.
I just found out today.. no go on the 5.5 BS on the 15x9. Was easy.. called Weld and verified.
Bummer.. it was a great deal on the wheels..

It will.....doesnt a 15x10 w 6.5 bs work out the same as a 15x9 bs? Looks like the math works to me. The inch difference is added to the backspace on the 10 right?

The problem is the 5.5 BS using a 275/60 is already tight on the fender lip. So any movement outward would be an issue.
The 15x8 and 15x9 having the same back spacing means the 15x9 is 1 more inch outward. Now the 15x9 and a 6.5 BS would be one more inch inward and same BS on the face. Technically a 15x9 and a 6.0 BS would be ideal. That would be =.5 and -.5 and keep the tire in the same place with more meat.
I can always move a wheel outward using a shim or spacer. The opposite direction... good luck. And once you mount a tire on a wheel.. you bought the farm
Hell the fix is minitub the car so I can make the wheels fit. Thats the Moby Dick fix... come hell or high water.. i'm gonna get that whale(make it fit)NEW Machine

A 15X10 w/ a 6.5 back space is what ya need. If the rim sticks out too far because of the disc brakes, just shorten the housing a half inch or so to pull the rims back in. No need to mini tub the car. A 15X10 inch rim w/ a 6.5 back space with a 28X10.5 M/T slick will fit as long as you roll the outer lip and get busy with a hammer on the inner fenderwell. Most of the 275 series tires out there measure just a little shorter than the slicks and don't seem to grow as much either.
