    Cooler Intake Air

I have a 99 mustang with a Kenne Bell blower on it. It is the 6 psi version because I din't feel like loading up the entire front of the car with extra crap (weight) since I autocross it. Would it be worth drawing through some type of heat exchanger into the blower? Or would this be a waste of time?

**Weight on the nose of Mustangs is like the kiss of death, i'm currently competing in the over 3 ltr class and run very competitively with the v8 mustangs, even though my (full time) auto cross car is a v6. This is because you get 2 cylinders less weight, aluminum heads and tube headers, all of which save weight.

It would be good to know your IAT2 temps before you start making any changes. Once you have that baseline you can decide if you need to cool things off. If your tune is pulling timing at the IAT2 temps you record, then you may want to invest in additional intake cooling. Front end weight.. tell me about it.

I don't recall what they are but Brian was telling me they were very hot, makes sense since there is no method of cooling it. I don't really want to blow alcohol through the blower as with a meth injection kit, so I was looking for some kind of alternative.

Thats the problem using a roots blower

Meth will not cool it down unless its sprayed "after" the blower.

Your best bet is making a cold air kit. Or getting an IC that goes after the blower.

Well back to the original idea, how much would the intake air be cooled by pulling it through some types of heat exchanger?

That will depend on the efficiency of said IC/heat exchanger. The larger the core, the more water pumped through it.. the cooler the charge. You will need to read temperature data from the IAT sensor on the intake.

Its a $$$ money. The more sophisticated the cooler.. the more money it is. This is why turbo and centri's rule as front mount IC's can be used to kill the heat in the charge temp.
